Product description

This set of plastic bird spikes creates a continuous 6 metre barrier that discourages birds and small mammals from perching or climbing on ledges, fences and rooftops. The Apluskis design combines longer main spikes with extra small spikes to reduce footholds, making it harder for pigeons, squirrels, raccoons, cats and foxes to settle on treated surfaces while remaining non-lethal and reusable.

Key Points

The strips come as 20 pieces that connect to form approximately 19.7 ft (6 m) of coverage. Each strip is 11.8 inches long and divides into three bendable sections of about 4 inches each, so the layout adapts to curved or angled surfaces. Installation can be by nails or screws, double-sided tape or the included strong zip ties, which suits both temporary and more permanent fixes. Made from polypropylene, the spikes are described by the manufacturer as weather resistant and rust-free, suitable for outdoor use across seasons.

Usage Recommendations

Fit the spikes along the front edge of lintels, parapets, window sills, fences or railings to prevent roosting. For narrow ledges use the single sections; for wider areas link several strips to maintain continuous coverage. When attaching to porous or uneven surfaces choose screws or nails for a reliable hold, and use double-sided tape for smooth, temporary placements. Consider the local wildlife and bird species when planning coverage, because very large animals may not be fully deterred by plastic spikes.

Positive Aspects

The product aims to be a humane deterrent by using plastic spikes rather than glass or metal that could injure animals. The modular, bendable design adds flexibility during fitting and helps to follow contours without cutting tools. According to the manufacturer, the PP material offers durability and can be reused, which may make the strips a cost-effective option over time. Note that while effective at preventing perching, these spikes are not a guarantee against all incursions and will be less effective on irregular surfaces where gaps remain.
