SONGMICS POSTER GMB054G01 Wall-Mounted Letterbox with Lock and Newspaper Holder

A freestanding box suits a different setup from a letterbox fixed beside the entrance. This SONGMICS POSTER model is designed for wall mounting, with a separate holder below for newspapers or magazines.

Its V-shaped viewing window lets you check for post without opening the lid. The anthracite grey finish and envelope-style front give it a modern look without adding decorative detail to the practical features.

A lock adds a layer of security, while a cover over the keyhole helps shield it from rain. If you want a quick way to see whether anything has arrived, does that visible window make the daily check simpler?

Strengths

The galvanised steel body is described as resistant to rain and rust, and the manufacturer also specifies a powder-coated finish. These features make it suited to everyday outdoor use, although the recommended location is sheltered rather than fully exposed. The V-shaped window gives a visible indication of post, so there is no need to open the box just to check.

The lower newspaper holder keeps larger reading material separate from letters. A covered lock preserves the clean front appearance and helps keep rain off the keyhole, two keys are included. You’ll like it if you want a wall-mounted post box that combines a lock, a viewing window and a dedicated place for newspapers or magazines.

The essentials

The box measures 10.5D x 37W x 37H centimetres and has front access. Its 37-centimetre width and height give it a clear presence beside a front door or on a fence, so it is worth considering the intended mounting spot before choosing it. The supplied installation pack includes screws, expansion bolts and rubber spacers, with instructions also listed in the package contents.

This is a practical alternative to a basic letterbox without a viewing window or newspaper holder. It is still a wall-mounted design, rather than a freestanding unit, and the supplied fittings are intended for mounting. The product details describe the letter slot as large enough for easy delivery, but do not specify a maximum letter size or capacity, avoid assuming it will suit unusually bulky post.

How to look after it

For a longer service life, the manufacturer recommends fitting the box under a roof overhang or in another protected position. Although the materials are described as rain- and rust-resistant, that guidance makes a sheltered spot the more sensible choice than leaving it fully exposed. Keep the lid covering the keyhole when closed, and follow the supplied installation instructions for the fixing process.

Questions before you buy

Does it show whether post has arrived? The V-shaped window on the front is designed to let you see inside at a glance, without unlocking the box.

Can it hold newspapers as well as letters? Yes. A holder at the bottom is intended for newspapers and magazines, separate from the main letter compartment.

What comes with the letterbox? The listed package includes the box, two keys, an accessory pack and instructions. The accessory pack includes rubber spacers, screws and expansion bolts.

When it makes sense

Choose the SONGMICS GMB054G01 if you want a locked, wall-mounted letterbox with a visible post window and a separate newspaper holder, and have a suitable sheltered place to install it. You may want to skip it if you need a freestanding post box, as this model is specifically designed for wall mounting. For a front entrance where checking deliveries and keeping newspapers together are both useful, its features are more practical than a plain box with no viewing window or lower holder.
