SONGMICS LTB544A02 Double Kitchen Bin, 2 x 15 L, Steel, Soft-Close Lid

For a kitchen where general waste and recycling need separate places, the SONGMICS LTB544A02 combines both in one bin. Would two separate bins be awkward to position? This model has two 15 L compartments, each with a removable inner bucket. A pedal opens the lid, which closes softly after use.

Why it’s worth it

The divided design makes everyday sorting more straightforward than using a single-compartment bin: one side can hold general waste and the other recycling, according to your household routine. The lid is designed to close quietly, and you can also lift it manually to 90° and leave it open while preparing food. A wide stainless steel pedal provides hands-free opening, while handles on the bin help when moving it.

Buyers speak positively about its appearance and ease of operation, and some highlight the usefulness of the separate compartments. Its Sand Beige finish may suit a kitchen where a less industrial-looking bin is preferred. These are buyer impressions rather than a substitute for checking whether the size and finish work in your own space.

What matters most

Each compartment holds 15 L, so the unit provides two distinct spaces rather than one shared opening. The body is steel, with PP plastic and ABS plastic also listed among the materials, the colour is Sand Beige. No external dimensions are provided in the supplied details, so allow for checking the available floor space before choosing a spot. Compared with a basic single bin, the main practical difference is the built-in separation, compared with two separate bins, this combines both containers in one unit.

Maintenance

The two inner buckets have handles, so they can be lifted out for emptying and cleaning. Holes at the back help keep bin liners in place and make the excess less visible. The steel body is described as easy to clean, but no specific cleaning method or care products are stated. If you use liners, the retaining holes are intended to make changing them neater, the inner buckets also mean you do not have to clean the outer bin every time a bucket needs attention.

Questions before you buy

Does it have separate compartments? Yes. It has two inner buckets, each with a 15 L capacity, for sorting waste into separate sections.

Can the lid stay open while cooking? The lid can be lifted manually to 90° and left open, which may be useful when you are handling food scraps or changing a liner.

Are the inner buckets removable? Yes. Both have handles, and the rear holes help keep liners in position.

When it makes sense

It makes sense if you want one kitchen bin for separating two waste streams and value a pedal-operated lid with removable inner buckets. The buyer feedback also points to a design that people appreciate for its appearance and straightforward operation. You may want to skip it if you need confirmed external measurements before deciding whether it will fit, as those dimensions are not included in the available product details.
