SONGMICS ISLAND LTB54NL 3-compartment kitchen bin, 3 x 18 L, pedal
Product description
Measuring 61.7L x 35.2W x 56.4H centimetres, the SONGMICS ISLAND LTB54NL is a stainless steel kitchen bin with three separate 18 L compartments. Its silver and ink black finish gives it a defined look, while the pedal-operated lids let you open it without touching the top.
It is designed for sorting different household waste in one unit, rather than placing several separate bins around the kitchen. That makes it worth considering if you want dedicated compartments for recycling, general waste and food waste, while a simpler single-bin setup may suit a household that does not need to separate waste at the bin.
Size & fit
The three 18 L compartments give you separate places to sort waste, with a total stated capacity of 3 x 18 L. Before choosing a spot, compare the listed dimensions with the available floor space and allow room to operate the pedals. The bin weighs 8.9 kilograms, so its position is worth deciding before filling it.
The stainless steel exterior is described as rust-resistant and intended for a kitchen environment, including damp conditions. The product information says it can be kept clean with a simple wipe. Its inner buckets have metal handles for lifting them out when emptying, this is useful when you want to carry one compartment’s contents away without moving the whole bin.
Strengths
Foot pedals are practical when you are preparing food or carrying something in both hands, as opening the lid does not require contact with it. The soft-close mechanism is intended to lower the lids gently and quietly rather than letting them shut with a bang. That can be useful in a busy kitchen or when other people are sleeping nearby.
The main benefit over a single-compartment bin is built-in sorting: you can keep different waste streams separate in one unit. It makes sense if you regularly separate household waste and have room for the listed footprint. Buyers’ comments are favourable about ease of cleaning and removing the inner buckets, but feedback on the lid mechanism and durability is mixed. Some praise the smooth, soft-close action and sturdy feel, others report lid problems or concerns about the mechanism lasting.
There is also mixed feedback on size: some buyers find it suits their space, while others feel it is smaller than expected. The stated dimensions and capacity are the most useful guide for judging whether it will work in your kitchen. You may want to skip it if you need a wider bin or prefer a single large compartment, the supplied details do not give the dimensions of each inner bucket.

Final verdict
The ISLAND LTB54NL is aimed at kitchens where sorting waste into separate compartments matters more than having one large opening. The pedal access, soft-close lids and lift-out inner buckets address everyday handling, while its dimensions make measuring the intended space an important part of the decision. If you prioritise a single large-capacity compartment or want a wider unit, this three-way layout may not match your needs. For waste separation in one freestanding bin, its stated capacity and removable buckets provide a clear, practical setup.
