SmarTect Garmin Edge 540/840 Screen Protector, 3-Pack 9H Tempered Glass
Product description
A clear glass protector suits riders who want a firmer barrier against scratches and impacts, a flexible film may be a better fit for a curved display. This SmarTect three-pack is made for the Garmin Edge 540 and 840, including their Solar versions, and has a 9H hardness rating, an anti-fingerprint coating and a glossy finish.
The key fit detail is that, on a curved device, the protector covers only the horizontal surface. That matters if you expect glass to extend over the curved edges.
Size & fit
The pack is listed as compatible with Garmin Edge 540 / 540 Solar and 840 / 840 Solar. The stated dimensions are 7.6L x 5.1W centimetres. SmarTect describes the fit as intended for the original devices, but the curved-screen note limits coverage to the horizontal surface. If edge-to-edge coverage is important to you, that distinction is worth considering before choosing glass over a flexible film.
Why it’s worth it
The tempered glass is designed to help guard the display against scratches, impacts and everyday marks while keeping the screen clear. Its 9H surface hardness is a useful point of comparison with a softer TPU protector: glass is the more rigid format, while TPU is flexible and may suit curved displays better. The stated anti-fingerprint feature and oleophobic coating are intended to reduce fingerprints, dirt and grease marks, they do not mean the surface will stay completely mark-free.
A practical use case is fitting a protector before regular rides, so the Edge display has a sacrificial glass layer between it and routine contact. Installation accessories are included: three wet wipes, a microfibre cloth, two anti-dust stickers and an English instruction manual. These should help with cleaning and positioning, though the listing’s bubble-free wording is an intended result rather than a guarantee for every installation.

Before you decide
Which Garmin Edge models does it fit? It is listed for the Edge 540 and 840, including the 540 Solar and 840 Solar versions.
What comes in the pack? There are three glass protectors, cleaning wipes, a microfibre cloth, anti-dust stickers and an English instruction manual.
Does it cover the curved edges? No. The product information says that on a curved device, only the horizontal surface is covered.
Should you buy it?
It makes sense if you want a clear, rigid screen layer for one of the listed Garmin Edge models and value having spares in the pack. The included cleaning kit also gives you the basic items needed for fitting. It may not suit you if your priority is coverage over curved edges: with this limitation, a flexible protector may be the more suitable format. The choice comes down to the fit you need, rather than the glass’s 9H rating alone.
