TOMTOM Air Vent Mount magnetic car mount for Tom by TomTom Traffic Assist

Worth noting

Moving the Tom by TomTom Traffic Assist between cars is simpler with this mount: it attaches to a car’s ventilation grille rather than relying on adhesive strips. That makes it a useful alternative if you want to avoid an adhesive mounting point or use the accessory in another vehicle.

The mount is designed for most standard air vents, including grilles with horizontal or vertical slats. Its magnets hold the Traffic Assist in place, while the non-slip design is intended to limit movement on the vent.

Do you want a mount that can be moved without leaving an adhesive strip on the dashboard? This is the approach to consider, provided your device and vent are suitable.

Best use cases

This accessory is specifically compatible with the Tom by TomTom Traffic Assist. It is not a general-purpose phone holder, and the listing states that it cannot be used with other TomTom models. That compatibility detail matters more than the magnetic attachment itself: if you own a different TomTom device, this mount is not the right match.

For someone who uses the Traffic Assist in more than one car, a vent-mounted option can be more practical than fitting an adhesive mount in each vehicle. It also suits drivers who prefer the device close to the ventilation grille rather than attached elsewhere in the car. The fit is described as suitable for most standard vents, not every possible grille, so the vent design remains relevant to the decision.

How to use it

The mount comes in two parts that slide together until they click. Once assembled, attach it to the car’s air vent and position the compatible Traffic Assist on the magnetic mount. The stated support for horizontal and vertical slats gives some flexibility across common vent layouts.

A straightforward use case is moving the same Traffic Assist from a daily car to another vehicle: the mount avoids depending on a permanently placed adhesive strip. The product information does not specify additional adjustment features, so the main choice is whether a vent position works for your car and how you prefer to place the device.

When it makes sense

Worth considering if you already have the Tom by TomTom Traffic Assist and want a magnetic, vent-based alternative to an adhesive mount. Its two-part assembly and stated compatibility with most standard horizontal or vertical vents make the intended setup clear, without requiring a more permanent mounting approach.

You may want to skip it if your TomTom device is not the Traffic Assist, as the listing rules out use with other TomTom models. It is also a poor fit for anyone who specifically wants an adhesive mounting style rather than a vent attachment. For the intended device, the decision comes down to that preference and whether your car has a suitable standard vent, the product details do not promise compatibility with every grille.
