Paper Mate Flair Felt Tip Pens, Tropical Vacation, 16 Colours, 0.7 mm

For adults and children looking for colourful pens for journalling, colouring or school projects, this Paper Mate set brings 16 shades together in one pack.

Each Flair pen has a medium 0.7 mm felt tip, intended to make bold, expressive lines. The ink is water-based and described as smudge- and fade-resistant, with a no-bleed claim.

The Tropical Vacation assortment includes Lilac, Marigold, Purple, Yellow, Black, Blue, Green, Lime, Red, Pink, Guava, Orchid Lei, Papaya, Passion Fruit, Scuba Dive and Surf's Up.

Getting the most from it

The mix of colours suits tasks where you want more than a standard black or blue pen: adding colour to journal entries, annotating notes, working on school projects or filling in colouring books. A medium point is a practical fit for expressive writing and broader colouring, while the 0.7 mm size gives a clear indication of the line width to expect. It is not presented as a fine-point set for very small details.

For everyday use, the range makes it easier to distinguish headings, reminders or sections at a glance. The water-based ink and stated resistance to smudging and fading are useful features for pages that will be handled or revisited. As with any felt tip, the result will depend on the paper and the way it is used.

Pros

The main appeal is the combination of 16 named colours and a consistent medium tip, rather than a small set limited to a few basic shades. Buyers often praise the vivid colour and smooth writing, and mention using the pens for journalling, annotation and colouring. Those are useful signs for anyone wanting one set for several paper-based activities, though they are customer impressions rather than a guarantee of how every pen will perform.

You’ll like it if you want a varied palette for everyday creative work without choosing separate pens for each task. Compared with sticking to one writing pen or a more basic colour selection, this set offers more scope to colour-code and decorate a page.

Worth noting

The no-bleed feature is a stated product claim, but buyer feedback on bleed-through is mixed: some report that the ink stays on the page, while others have experienced bleeding. If you use thin paper or need to protect the reverse side, test a less visible area first. Not the best choice if guaranteed bleed resistance on a particular paper is essential.

Some buyers also express disappointment with their purchase, and feedback on reliability is not uniform. The supplied details do not specify the paper types tested, so the performance claims should not be treated as a promise for every notebook or colouring book.

Buying verdict

This 16-count set makes sense for someone who wants assorted colours and a medium felt tip for journalling, notes, school projects and colouring. It is a straightforward choice when a broad palette matters more than a specialist tip for fine detail. The stated smudge- and fade-resistant ink may be appealing for pages you plan to keep, but mixed reports about bleed-through make the paper you intend to use an important part of the decision.
