Anker Ergonomic Vertical Mouse, USB Wired, Optical, 1000/1600 DPI, Black

For a desk setup where a conventional mouse grip feels awkward, the Anker Ergonomic Optical USB Wired Vertical Mouse offers a different hand position without changing to a wireless connection. Its vertical shape is designed to encourage a neutral, handshake-style wrist and arm position, while optical tracking has two selectable sensitivity levels: 1000 and 1600 DPI.

The wired format keeps the setup straightforward: connect it to a computer over USB and use the side buttons for next and previous page navigation. It is aimed at everyday browsing and computer work, with casual gaming also mentioned in the product details.

Where it shines

The main reason to choose this mouse is its vertical grip, rather than a larger set of advanced features. The thumb rest and shaped palm area are intended to support the hand, and the two DPI settings let you choose between different pointer sensitivity levels. That makes it worth considering if you spend a lot of time browsing or working at a computer and want to try a grip that differs from a standard flat mouse.

Buyer feedback is positive about comfort and the ergonomic feel, with some customers saying the position helped with wrist or shoulder discomfort. Those are individual experiences, not a guaranteed result, so it should not be treated as a medical device or a certain fix for pain. Comments on reliability are mixed: some buyers report continued use, while others mention a wheel that slips or stops working and concerns about durability.

Key points

This is a black, right-hand USB mouse with optical tracking. The cable is listed as 1.5m/4.9ft, and the product dimensions are 120 × 62.8 × 74.8 mm, its stated weight is 5.3 oz. A wired connection may suit a fixed desk better than a setup where you regularly move between devices or want to avoid a cable.

There is an inconsistency in the button information: the product name and description refer to five buttons, while the specification table lists six. The next and previous page buttons are described as convenient for browsing. On Mac OS X, those two thumb buttons are not recognised, Mac OS X is nevertheless named in the compatibility information, alongside Windows 8, 7, Vista, XP and 2000, Linux and personal computers. The package includes the mouse and an instruction manual. The listing also states an 18-month warranty and lifetime technical support guarantee.

Best use cases

This design makes most sense for a right-handed user who wants a USB mouse with a vertical grip for regular desktop browsing, document work or general computer use. In a practical browsing session, the thumb buttons can move between pages, while the DPI setting offers a choice of pointer sensitivity. It is a more specific choice than a basic conventional mouse: the distinctive grip is the point, not wireless convenience or a promise of specialist gaming performance.

Final verdict

It suits you if you want to try a right-handed vertical mouse with optical tracking, two DPI settings and page-navigation buttons, and a cable is acceptable at your desk. The reported comfort is encouraging, but personal fit will vary, and customer feedback raises a genuine question about wheel reliability and long-term durability. Not the best choice if you need the thumb navigation buttons to work on Mac OS X, or if a consistently dependable scroll wheel is your priority. The conflicting button count is also worth bearing in mind when comparing it with alternatives.
