Toodour Solar Wind Chimes

For anyone looking to add a small point of colour to a patio, balcony, window or garden, these solar butterfly wind chimes combine hanging décor with light after dark. The design has six butterfly-shaped lights and changes between seven colours.

They’re intended for outdoor display, but can also be used indoors as decoration. The main practical consideration is where the solar panel will sit during the day.

Technical details

The lights charge using solar energy and switch on after dark when the unit is set to “ON”. The listing says they can run for 8–10 hours after a full charge, actual charging depends on the sunlight reaching the panel. There’s no need for a separate power connection, which makes placement simpler than with plug-in decorative lights, though it also means the display depends on daylight.

The six butterfly-shaped lights transition through red, green, orange, blue, yellow, purple and white. A swivel hook is included for hanging, and the product is described as waterproof. No waterproof rating or specific weather conditions are given, so the listing doesn’t establish how it will hold up in prolonged or severe exposure.

Getting the most from it

Choose a hanging spot where the panel can receive several hours of sunlight, rather than putting it in a shaded corner simply because that’s where the decoration looks best. For example, hanging it near a sunny balcony railing during the day could let it gather charge, then provide a shifting glow beside the seating area in the evening. Set the switch to “ON” so it can charge and light up as intended.

It may suit you if you want a decorative accent that doesn’t need an outlet and enjoy changing colours more than a fixed, steady light. If you’d rather control brightness or colour, or need dependable illumination regardless of the weather, a purpose-built powered light may be a better match, those features aren’t specified here.

Usage tips

Use the swivel hook to hang it from a suitable point such as a garden tree, porch or window area. Keep the solar panel exposed to daylight, and bear in mind that shorter or less direct sunlight may affect how much charge it collects. The stated 8–10-hour runtime applies after a full charge, not necessarily to every day or location.

Although the listing calls the lights waterproof, it doesn’t provide a rating or explain whether they’re intended for a particular level of exposure. Based on the listing details, treat that claim as a general outdoor-use description rather than a guarantee for every weather condition. For indoor display, the solar panel still needs access to daylight if you want the lights to charge.

Before you buy

This is decorative lighting, not a task light: its appeal is the butterfly shape and gradual colour changes, rather than a stated brightness level for reading or illuminating a walkway. There are also no listed dimensions, battery details or controls for choosing a single colour. Those omissions matter if you need a precise fit, a particular lighting effect or more information about long-term outdoor use.

If your priority is a hanging accent that can add colour to a garden or patio without a power cable, the solar format has a clear practical advantage. If the intended spot gets little sun, or you need specified weather resistance, the available details may not give enough confidence for that use.

Purchase questions

Does it need to be plugged in? No plug connection is described. It charges from sunlight, so the panel needs daytime exposure.

How long does it stay lit? The listing states 8–10 hours after a full charge. It doesn’t specify a guaranteed runtime for every lighting or weather condition.

Can I choose one colour? The lights are described as changing through seven colours. No setting for selecting or holding a single colour is mentioned.
