The Beatles 6572447 Rubber Soul Blu-ray Audio Edition, Dolby Atmos & Stereo

For listeners choosing a physical edition of Rubber Soul with more than one audio presentation, this Blu-ray brings the album together with Dolby Atmos and high-resolution stereo mixes.

The Beatles’ sixth album is newly mixed by producer Giles Martin and Sam Okell, giving listeners a choice of formats for enjoying its songs at home.

The disc also includes videos for “Day Tripper” and “We Can Work It Out”, plus a 20-page booklet in a digisleeve. What makes this edition distinctive is the combination of album mixes, single videos and printed material in one release.

Strengths

Rubber Soul pairs a familiar album tracklist with newly mixed Dolby Atmos and high-resolution stereo audio. That makes this edition especially useful for listeners who want to explore the album in an Atmos-capable home setup, while still having a stereo presentation available for more conventional listening. Rather than choosing an edition focused only on the music in one format, buyers get both audio approaches on the disc.

The release also adds videos for “Day Tripper” and “We Can Work It Out”, connecting the album listening experience with two of the era’s singles. The digisleeve and included 20-page booklet round out the physical edition for fans who value printed material alongside the disc.

Key features

The album’s newly mixed Dolby Atmos and high-resolution stereo audio are credited to producer Giles Martin and Sam Okell. The tracklist includes songs such as “Drive My Car”, “Norwegian Wood (This Bird Has Flown)”, “Nowhere Man”, “Michelle” and “In My Life”. The disc also lists Atmos and stereo mixes for the two featured singles, with alternate versions of “Day Tripper” and “We Can Work It Out”.

For a practical listening session, play the album through a Blu-ray setup that supports your chosen audio format, then switch between stereo and Atmos where your system allows. The included videos make the disc a natural choice for a music-focused evening, while the booklet gives you something to browse as part of the physical release. Buyers’ opinions on the overall sound and mix quality are divided, so the choice is best guided by the appeal of the album, its included formats and the accompanying video and booklet content.

How to use it

Use the Blu-ray player and audio system you normally use for music discs, selecting the audio presentation suited to your setup. High-resolution stereo provides the stereo option, Dolby Atmos is there for listeners with a compatible playback system. The videos for “Day Tripper” and “We Can Work It Out” offer a change of pace from playing the album straight through.

Keep the disc in its digisleeve when not in use and handle it by the edges to help keep the playing surface clear. The 20-page booklet can be kept with the release, so the disc and printed material stay together on the shelf.

Final verdict

This edition is a considered pick for Beatles listeners who want Rubber Soul on Blu-ray with both newly mixed Dolby Atmos and high-resolution stereo, rather than a release centred on a single audio format. The two single videos, digisleeve and 20-page booklet add tangible extras for a home collection, making it well suited to focused album listening and revisiting the songs in different formats.
