MidWest Homes for Pets Dog Crate Cover CVR-42

When a wire crate feels too exposed, a cover can give a dog a more sheltered place to settle. This MidWest Homes for Pets dog crate cover is designed to add privacy and a den-like feel, with panels that still leave access to several crate doors. It may also help reduce behaviours such as barking and chewing, though it should not be treated as a fix for anxiety on its own.

It is made for compatible MidWest and New World crates, so the fit matters as much as the idea.

Best use cases

This cover is aimed at owners who want to soften the open, see-through feel of a crate during rest or quiet time. The front, sides, back and top panels create more coverage than an uncovered wire crate, while hook-and-loop tabs help hold the fabric in place. For a dog that settles more easily with less visual activity around the crate, that added screening may be useful at home.

It also leaves access to front, rear and side doors on one-, two- or three-door crates. That makes day-to-day access less awkward than a fully enclosed cover with no door openings. The top panel is included, but there is no access for a top door. If your routine depends on using that opening, this layout is a mismatch.

A cover changes the feel of the crate, it does not change its size or replace gradual crate training. Encaja contigo si you want added privacy for a compatible crate and are comfortable with a fabric cover. No es para ti si you need top-door access, a cover for the floor, or a mat included.

Product specs

The cover measures 108cm x 71cm x 76.5cm and is made from a polyester-cotton blend with Teflon protection. It is designed for MidWest Homes for Pets and New World iCrates, including models 1542, 1542DD, B42 and B42DD. The product name refers to 106.68cm-long crates, for another manufacturer’s crate, compare its measurements with the cover dimensions before choosing. Without the crate’s measurements, fit is difficult to judge reliably.

There are five panels: front, two sides, back and top. Hook-and-loop tabs secure the cover, and the fabric is machine washable and suitable for machine drying. No bottom panel, mat or rug is included, so the crate floor remains as it is unless you add bedding separately.

Where it shines

The practical appeal is the mix of coverage and door access. Compared with leaving a crate completely open, this cover can make the space feel more sheltered, compared with a fully closed design, its door openings offer more convenient access from the front, rear or sides. Picture settling a dog in for a quiet stretch and opening the front without removing the whole cover—that is the kind of routine this layout supports. What matters more to you: reducing visual exposure or keeping every entry point available?

The fabric also makes this a more involved choice than simply placing a blanket over a crate: the panels are sized for a particular crate format and held with tabs. In return, you get a purpose-made cover that can be washed and dried by machine. The trade-off is that fit and access are specific, rather than universal.

Final decision

Choose this MidWest Homes for Pets cover if your crate matches the listed models or dimensions, you want a more private den-like setup, and access through the front, rear or side doors suits your routine. Its washable polyester-cotton blend and securing tabs are useful details for regular use, while the coverage may help reduce barking or chewing linked to the crate environment—but results will depend on the dog.

Skip it if your crate needs top-door access, its measurements do not match, or you expect a base panel or bedding to come in the package. For a different crate brand, sizing is the deciding point, a loose blanket may be more adaptable, while this fitted design is intended for specific crate dimensions.
