Dorman brake line retaining clips 13987

A missing or failed brake hose retaining clip can leave a small but important part of a brake-line connection needing attention. The Dorman 13987 is a four-pack of replacement clips intended for select vehicle applications, rather than a universal part. It may suit a repair where the original clip is missing or has failed through fatigue, but fitment is the key decision: the listing does not name every compatible vehicle.

Getting the most from it

Treat this as a targeted replacement part, not a general-purpose clip. The product is described as a brake hydraulic hose lock clip, designed to match the fit and function of the factory part for specified years, makes and models. For example, if a clip is absent or has become fatigued during a brake-hose repair, this pack is intended to provide a replacement for the applicable vehicle. The specific installation point and procedure depend on that vehicle, so the product description alone is not a substitute for vehicle-specific repair information.

Before choosing it, match the part against your vehicle’s make, model and trim. The manufacturer recommends using its fitment tool for that check. A shared model name is not enough to assume compatibility across every year or trim, and the available details do not provide dimensions or a full fitment list. That select-model restriction is the main limitation to account for.

Why it’s worth it

The practical appeal is straightforward: it offers a replacement for an original clip that is missing or has failed, and the pack contains four clips. That may be useful when you need the specified retaining part rather than trying to adapt a generic fastener. The product is also described as being made from durable materials, though no specific material or service-life figures are provided.

If you prioritize an application-specific replacement for a confirmed fit, this is a more direct approach than sourcing a generic clip. If you prefer a part with published dimensions or confirmed compatibility across a broad range of vehicles, the information here may not give you enough to make that choice. It suits you if the original part needs replacing and the vehicle match is confirmed, it is not worth it if you cannot establish that match or need a clip for an unlisted application.

At a glance

• Type: Brake hydraulic hose retaining clip
• Part number: 13987
• Pack: Four clips
• Fitment: Select years, makes and models
• Intended use: Replacement for a missing or failed original clip

The description positions these as direct replacements for the factory part on specified applications. It does not identify the exact vehicles, clip dimensions or material, so those details should not be assumed from the part number alone.

When to choose it

Choose the Dorman 13987 when you are replacing a missing or fatigued brake-line retaining clip and have confirmed that this part matches your vehicle’s make, model and trim. The four-pack makes sense if you need multiple clips for the specified application, but the listing does not establish that every clip will be needed for every repair. If fitment remains uncertain, or your vehicle is outside the listed applications, look for a replacement matched to its exact requirements instead of relying on a similar-looking clip.
