Blackview SCM5 14-inch FHD IPS Laptop Screen Extender, Matte Display

A 14-inch FHD IPS screen gives you more room to keep reference material, messages or documents visible alongside your main laptop screen. The Blackview SCM5 attaches to compatible laptops and offers mirror, extend and portrait modes, so you can arrange your workspace around the task at hand. Its matte display and plug-and-play connections make it practical for work at home or on the go.

What you’ll notice day to day

Use extend mode to keep a document open beside a video call, or leave research on one screen while you write on the other. Mirror mode is suited to showing the same content on both displays, while portrait mode gives longer documents, code and feeds a tall layout. These options make the extra screen useful for more than one kind of workflow, without requiring a separate freestanding monitor on your desk.

The 1920 × 1080 resolution, 60 Hz refresh rate and IPS panel deliver Full HD viewing on a 14-inch screen. A 180-degree viewing angle helps keep the display visible from different positions, and the matte finish is suited to everyday work settings. The TÜV SÜD-certified eye-comfort feature is designed to reduce blue light, a useful consideration for extended sessions at a desk or while travelling.

Buyers commonly praise the clear image, straightforward setup and portability, and describe the extra screen as helpful for multitasking. Their comments reflect individual experiences, while the practical appeal is clear: more workspace can be ready when you need it, then packed away with your laptop setup.

What to know

The SCM5 is designed to attach to laptops from 13 to 17.3 inches. Its six-point mounting and adjustable stand, which moves up to 90 degrees, help position the screen alongside the laptop, soft silicone-lined pads help protect the contact points. The 14-inch display measures 357 × 207 mm, with a depth of 25 mm.

For a simple connection, use USB-C for both video and power when the connected device supports that setup. HDMI is also supported, with HDMI, USB-A is used for power. The extender is listed as compatible with Windows, Mac, ChromeOS, Android and Linux, as well as phones, Nintendo Switch and M1, M2 and M3 devices. Check that your device supports video output through the connection you plan to use. This attached-screen format suits people who want added laptop workspace in a compact setup, a conventional standalone monitor is a different approach for a fixed desk arrangement.

Getting the most from it

Choose a display mode to match what you are doing: extend for side-by-side work, mirror for a shared view, or portrait for tall content. In a café or at a shared workspace, the attached screen can keep a reference open while the laptop remains available for your main task. At home, it can help organize a workflow with several documents or windows in view. The matte black finish and portable design also make it easy to carry as part of a mobile work setup.

When it makes sense

A solid pick if you regularly move between work locations and want extra screen space without building your setup around a separate monitor. The SCM5 combines a laptop-mounted 14-inch Full HD display, flexible viewing modes and USB-C or HDMI connectivity, making it a useful choice for multitasking, travel work and compact home offices.
