ACKO Folding Step Stool 9-Inch

If you need a little extra reach without leaving a stool out all day, a folding step stool makes a different kind of sense than a larger, fixed step. This ACKO model is listed as 9 inches high, folds for storage and has a handle for carrying, with a stated 300 lb capacity.

It is intended for children and adults, with kitchens, bathrooms and closets among the suggested uses. The listing also describes it as lightweight plastic, but doesn’t give its folded dimensions or weight.

How to use it

Use it for short, everyday reaches rather than as a substitute for a full-height ladder. For instance, you could unfold it to reach an item in a kitchen cupboard, then fold it away when you’re done. In a bathroom, its stated use includes helping children reach a toilet during potty training. The handle and folding design may also be handy when moving it between rooms or packing it for an RV trip.

Would a fixed 9-inch step be enough for the places you need to reach? That’s the main practical question here: the listing gives one height, not an adjustable range. It also doesn’t provide folded measurements, so there’s no way to confirm exactly how much storage space it will take up.

Pros

The folding format is useful when floor space is limited, and the handle gives you a way to carry the stool rather than leave it set up. The described grip details include rubber straps on the feet and rubber dots on the standing surface. Rounded corners are also part of the design, though these details shouldn’t be taken as a guarantee against slips or bumps.

It may suit you if you want one small step for occasional household tasks, especially where a fixed stool would get in the way. Better to avoid it if you need an adjustable height, a broad platform or a taller reach, those requirements aren’t addressed by the details provided. Without having tested it, the most useful distinction is its compact, fold-away format versus a larger step that stays ready for more demanding access.

What I’d decide

For a cupboard, closet or bathroom task that only needs a modest boost, this stool’s fold-away design and stated height make it a straightforward option to consider. Its appeal is less about reaching high places and more about having a small step you can put away between uses. Before choosing it, make sure 9 inches is enough for your particular task and that its unspecified folded size works with your storage space. If you need a taller or adjustable solution, look for a different type of step stool instead.
