## Description

Some setups call for a compact keyboard footprint, others put a larger layout first. The YUNZII B87 takes the space-saving approach with an 87-key, 80% TKL layout that leaves more room on your desk for a mouse or other essentials.

Its White Heart Cocoa V2 design pairs bear-patterned MOA keycaps with a soft-touch wrist rest, bringing a distinctive look and a more comfortable place to rest your hands during typing or gaming sessions.

Tri-mode connectivity, hot-swappable switches, and QMK/VIA customization make it easy to shape the keyboard around your devices and preferred setup.

## Key takeaways

The gasket-mounted design uses five layers of padding, including PE sandwich foam, an IXPE switch pad, PET sound foam, switch foam, and a silicone bottom pad. This construction is designed to reduce typing noise and add stability. Linear switches come pre-lubricated, while full-key hot-swap sockets support 3-pin and 5-pin switches, so compatible switches can be changed without soldering.

Bluetooth, 2.4GHz wireless, and USB-C wired connections give you a choice of how to connect. The keyboard can connect with up to five devices, and its built-in 4000mAh rechargeable battery supports wireless use. RGB backlighting adds adjustable lighting options, while NKRO supports registering multiple simultaneous key presses.

The frame is made from ABS, and the bear-patterned keycaps are dye-sublimated PBT. The included soft-touch wrist rest complements the compact layout. Buyers often praise the keyboard’s appearance, smooth feel, and creamy sound, feedback on connectivity is mixed, and some report problems with the LED lights.

## Usage tips

Use the two adjustable feet to set a keyboard angle that suits your desk, and position the wrist rest in front of the board for a continuous place to rest your hands. The 2.4GHz receiver is stored beneath the keyboard near the adjustable feet, making it convenient to retrieve when you want a wireless connection. Its listed dimensions are 14.72"L x 5.9"W x 1.7"H, useful for planning its place on a desk.

## How to use it

Choose Bluetooth, 2.4GHz wireless, or the USB-C wired connection with the tri-mode switch on the top edge. The included USB cable and 2.4GHz dongle support the wired and receiver-based setups. Bluetooth and 2.4GHz options let you connect without a cable, while the built-in battery powers wireless use.

For a more personalized layout, QMK/VIA lets you configure key mappings, layers, macros, phrase typing, and lighting effects through a web browser. Hot-swap sockets make it possible to replace compatible 3-pin or 5-pin switches without soldering. The keyboard is listed for Windows, Mac, Linux, iOS, and Android devices.

## Should you buy it?

Choose the B87 if you want a compact mechanical keyboard with wireless and wired connection options, programmable controls, and room to customize its switches. It brings more personalization and a distinct MOA keycap design than a straightforward keyboard focused on a larger layout, while keeping an 87-key format for everyday typing, gaming, and work. The included wrist rest, adjustable feet, and three connection modes make it a practical fit for a desk that moves between devices or tasks.
