## Description

This folding wooden chess set combines a 16-inch board with deluxe weighted acrylic Staunton pieces for a tactile, visually striking play experience at home or in the office. The large 3.5-inch king pieces are easy to handle and the divided interior storage keeps pieces secure when the board is closed, making it suitable for casual matches and display alike.

## Key Points

The board opens to 16.38 inches square and closes for compact storage, with a 1.5-inch thickness that hides segmented compartments for each piece. Pieces have a zinc alloy core wrapped in electroplated acrylic for a high-end finish that resists looking like ordinary plastic. Each piece sits on a leather base to protect the board surface during play. Consider that the set favors visual appeal and handling over materials like solid wood or carved stone, according to the manufacturer.

## Usage Recommendations

Place the board on a stable, flat surface for balanced play and to avoid sliding pieces. The weighted pieces offer comfortable handling for adults and older children, making them useful for practice, casual tournaments, or demonstrating moves during lessons. For display, leave the board open to showcase the electroplated finish and leather bases, or close it to protect pieces and reduce dust exposure.

## Positive Aspects

The set serves both as a playable chess set and as a decorative accent that complements a living room or study. It emphasizes easy piece manipulation with larger sizes and a satisfying weight that helps prevent accidental toppling. The built-in storage simplifies transport and compact storage between sessions.

## The Best of This Model

This model stands out for its combination of a folding wooden board and visually detailed acrylic-coated pieces, offering the look of upscale game sets without the higher cost of carved or solid metal pieces. The electroplated finish gives pieces a polished appearance that catches light during play, while the leather bases reduce wear on the board.
