Utron 17YBH0001 Coin Capsules, 40mm Clear Plastic with Adjustable Foam Rings

For sorting a coin collection into individual holders for storage or display, these clear Utron capsules pair a 40mm interior with foam washers in several sizes. The transparent shells let you see the coin without opening each capsule.

The set includes 60 capsules and 60 foam washers. The listed washer sizes are 17mm, 20mm, 25mm, 27mm, 30mm, 33mm, and 38mm.

This setup suits collectors choosing individual holders with adjustable inserts rather than a fixed-size capsule. The important first step is matching the coin’s diameter to the capsule and washer.

Tips for day-to-day use

Measure the coin before choosing a washer. The capsule’s inner diameter is 40mm and its outer diameter is 44mm, the washer sizes are smaller, so they can help keep coins from moving around inside. The product listing specifically advises checking both the coin and holder dimensions before buying. A coin’s name alone may not tell you whether it will fit, so use its actual diameter as your guide.

For a collection with different coin sizes, the assortment of washers offers more flexibility than buying one fixed insert size. Keep the washer that fits each coin with its capsule so the contents are easier to identify and organize later. The crescent-shaped opening is intended to help with opening, although buyers report mixed experiences: some find the capsules difficult to open or keep closed.

Why it’s worth it

Clear plastic makes the contents visible for arranging or displaying a collection, while individual capsules separate coins from one another. The product is described as smooth, PVC-free, and designed to help keep out dust. Those features may appeal to someone looking for compact, individual storage rather than a tray where coins sit together.

It’s a great fit if you want one set of holders for coins that fall within the listed dimensions and appreciate being able to view them while stored. Buyers describe the capsules as useful for displaying and storing coins, but feedback on fit and durability is mixed. Some say the shells feel sturdy, others report cracking, so careful handling is worth considering when inserting coins.

What to know

The 40mm measurement is the inner diameter, not the outer size, the outside measures 44mm. The included washers range from 17mm to 38mm. Buyers’ fit reports vary, with some saying coins fit well and others noting that certain coins, including some 1 oz U.S. silver Eagles, are too large or do not align properly. Measure your specific coin rather than assuming a fit based on its type or name.

The manufacturer describes the plastic as thickened, transparent, and PVC-free, and says the cases are intended to help protect coins from dust and oxidation. These are product claims, not a substitute for checking whether the dimensions and storage format suit your collection. You may want to skip it if you need a capsule confirmed to fit a particular coin size that exceeds the stated dimensions, or if easy repeated opening is essential to your routine.

Questions before you buy

What comes in the set? It includes 60 clear coin capsules and 60 foam washers in the listed sizes. The product information does not specify how the washers are divided among those sizes.

Can the capsules hold coins of different diameters? The included washer sizes are intended to accommodate coins from 17mm through 38mm inside a capsule with a 40mm interior. Check the dimensions of each coin before selecting a washer.

Are they easy to open and close? The capsules have a crescent-shaped opening, but buyer feedback is mixed. Some find them difficult to open or keep closed, so consider that if you expect to access the coins frequently.

Is it worth it?

Choose this set if you want individual clear holders, a range of foam washer sizes, and a way to view coins while they are stored or displayed. It is less suited to buying by coin name alone: the 40mm interior and mixed fit reports make measuring your specific coins the more reliable basis for a decision. If a coin is a close fit or you need frequent access, those details deserve extra attention before choosing this capsule style.
