## Description

In paperback format, this Tom Petty guitar songbook measures 9 x 0.32 x 12 inches. It brings together note-for-note tab transcriptions for guitar players. The title identifies 17 classic hits, making it a focused option for players interested in learning Petty’s songs from printed music.

## What matters most

The main reason to consider this collection is its guitar-specific transcription approach: it is described as a Guitar Recorded Versions book with note-for-note tabs. That makes it more directly suited to working through songs with written guitar parts than a general collection of lyrics or chord references. The product information names 17 classic hits, but does not list the individual song titles, so check the contents if you are choosing it for a particular track.

The physical details also help set expectations. It is a paperback with a listed weight of 12.8 ounces, and its 9 x 0.32 x 12-inch dimensions give it a large, flat page format. That may suit a music stand or desk better than a pocket-sized reference, though the supplied details do not specify page layout or paper features. Its publication date is February 1, 2003, useful context for shoppers comparing editions, but no edition-specific changes are provided here.

Customers describe the content as useful for learning Tom Petty tunes and speak positively about the song selection. One customer specifically notes the presence of fret numbers and music notation. Those comments can help indicate what readers value, but they do not confirm that every transcription uses the same notation or that a particular song is included.

## Everyday use

This book is aimed at guitarists who want written arrangements to follow while learning or revisiting Tom Petty material. A practical session might involve opening to a selected transcription, reading the notation and tab, and working through the guitar part at a comfortable pace. The listing does not specify a skill level, tuning, or whether the book includes recordings, so it is best judged as a printed songbook rather than a complete lesson package.

You’ll appreciate it if you want a dedicated collection of guitar transcriptions rather than a broader rock songbook with mixed artists. Not the best choice if you need arrangements for an instrument other than guitar, the product is specifically presented for guitar players.

## Practical tips

Before buying, match the contents against the Tom Petty songs you want to play, since the individual titles are not shown in the available product details. If you are comparing this with a chord-only songbook, the note-for-note tab format is the key distinction to weigh: it is intended to provide written guitar parts, not just a basic song reference. The listing identifies the format as paperback, so shoppers looking specifically for a digital edition should confirm that format separately.

## Practical questions

**How many songs are identified?** The title describes a collection of 17 classic hits, although the individual song names are not included in the supplied details.

**What kind of guitar notation does it use?** It is described as containing note-for-note tab transcriptions. Customer feedback also mentions fret numbers and music notation.

**What are the book’s listed dimensions?** The paperback measures 9 x 0.32 x 12 inches and has a listed weight of 12.8 ounces.

## Final verdict

This collection is worth considering for guitarists who want a Tom Petty-focused printed book with note-for-note tab and a stated selection of 17 hits. Its clearest buying question is whether the song list includes the tracks you want, the available product details do not name them. If the titles match your needs and you prefer paper-based guitar notation, the format and stated scope are straightforward. If you need instruction beyond transcriptions or arrangements for another instrument, the listing does not establish that this book covers those needs.
