Tech Hyren M2 HSS Annular Cutter, 13/16-Inch, 1-Inch Depth, 3/4-Inch Weldon Shank
Product description
At 13/16 inches in diameter, this Tech Hyren annular cutter is made from M2 high-speed steel and has a 1-inch cutting depth. Its hollow cutting design removes material around the hole’s perimeter rather than drilling out the entire center, making it a different approach from a solid twist drill.
A pilot pin is included to help center the cutter and guide lubrication to the cutting edge. The pin also helps eject the center slug after cutting.

Everyday compatibility
The 3/4-inch Weldon shank is described as compatible with most major magnetic drill presses, not every drill setup. The manufacturer lists Alfra, BDS, DeWalt, Euroboor, and Hougen among compatible brands. If your press uses a different shank arrangement, this cutter may not fit, confirm the shank requirement for your specific machine before choosing it.

The pilot pin supports more controlled positioning at the start of a hole, while the hollow cutting profile leaves a center slug rather than turning the whole hole into chips. That can make sense for metalwork where a magnetic drill press is already part of the setup. What matters most is matching the cutter to the press and the material, rather than treating it like a general-purpose bit.
The manufacturer recommends using cutting fluid to help limit heat and extend cutter life, then cleaning away chips and debris after use. Its listed starting speed ranges vary by material: 312–724 RPM for aluminum, 75–174 RPM for stainless steel, 112–261 RPM for cast iron, and 62–145 RPM for alloy tool steel. These are material-specific figures, so they should not be treated as one universal setting.

Best use cases

This cutter is aimed at drilling holes in structural steel, plate metal, iron, and pipes with a magnetic drill press. For example, it may suit a metalworker making a hole through plate stock where the press can be positioned and secured at the work site. The 1-inch depth is a key selection detail: the material being cut needs to fall within that stated cutting depth.

Compared with a solid twist drill, the annular design cuts only around the hole’s edge, and the pilot pin helps locate the cut and release the slug. That makes it relevant for dedicated hole-cutting tasks, a conventional drill bit may be the more suitable choice for smaller, general drilling jobs or equipment that cannot take a Weldon-shank cutter. It suits you if your magnetic drill accepts a 3/4-inch Weldon shank and your work calls for this diameter and depth. It might not be a great match if your press requires another shank type or the required cut is deeper than 1 inch.
Should you buy it?

This is a purpose-built option for metalworkers who need a 13/16-inch annular cutter with a 1-inch cutting depth and already have a compatible magnetic drill press. M2 HSS, the spiral flute, and the supplied pilot pin speak to a specific hole-cutting setup rather than broad use across handheld drills or general shop tasks.
The fit depends on more than the cutter diameter: the Weldon shank, work material, cutting depth, and suitable operating speed all matter. Choose it when those details align with your job and press. If your equipment uses another shank or you need a different hole size or depth, a cutter selected for that setup is the more sensible route.
