## Description

The clear matte polycarbonate shell helps guard your MacBook from everyday scratches while keeping its original look visible. Its slim, fitted design provides coverage without getting in the way of ports or normal opening and closing.

## Key takeaways

Made for the 16-inch MacBook Pro models listed below, this hard shell has a matte, transparent finish with a nano-coating intended to help reduce fingerprints and smudges. The Apple logo remains visible through the case, so the laptop’s appearance stays part of the design. Side and hinge vents are aligned with the computer’s cooling layout, and precise cutouts keep ports accessible.

The fit and finish also come up in customer feedback: buyers describe the case as secure and appreciate how its color complements their MacBook. Durability feedback is mixed, with some customers saying the shell held up over time and others reporting cracks after a shorter period. As a hard-shell approach, it keeps a cover attached during everyday use, someone who wants protection only while carrying a laptop may prefer relying on a separate sleeve instead.

## Who it’s for

This case is intended for the 16-inch MacBook Pro with M5, M4, M3, M2, or M1 Pro/Max chips, covering model numbers A3428, A3429, A3186, A3403, A2991, A2780, and A2485. Check the A-number on the underside of your MacBook before ordering. It does not fit the 2019 MacBook Pro model A2141.

The two-piece shell is designed to attach closely to the computer, with openings shaped to preserve access to its ports and allow the display to open and close smoothly. Its clear matte surface suits anyone who wants a low-profile cover rather than an opaque design, while the aligned vents support airflow around the sides and hinge.

## Best use cases

Use the shell to keep the laptop covered while working at a desk, moving between rooms, or packing it for a day out. The scratch-resistant finish and wipe-clean surface are practical for a computer that gets handled often, while the transparent matte look lets its original finish remain visible. For carrying, it can also be paired with a laptop bag or sleeve if that is part of your routine.

To install it, match the case to the correct MacBook model and seat the shell around the computer. The precise cutouts are intended to leave ports accessible, and the vent placement follows the MacBook’s side and hinge cooling areas. A soft wipe helps clean the matte surface and remove smudges.

## Buying verdict
