SONGMICS Double Trash Can, 2 x 8 Gallon

For households that sort everyday waste and recycling in the kitchen, this SONGMICS double trash can puts two separate bins in one stainless steel unit. Each removable inner bucket holds 8 gallons, so you can keep two waste streams close together without setting up a pair of separate cans. Foot pedals open the lids without hand contact, and the soft-close design is intended to avoid a loud slam. Its white finish and chamfered lids give it a more considered look than a basic plastic bin, though the listing does not provide the unit’s overall dimensions.

What matters most

The main reason to choose this model is the combination of sorting and access: two buckets sit in one outer body, and each lid opens with its own pedal. That setup can be useful when you’re clearing plates after dinner or separating recyclables while cooking, you don’t have to lift a lid with messy hands or reach across the room for a second container. The buckets lift out for emptying and cleaning, while a hole in each inner bucket helps keep the liner in place.

The stainless steel body and soft-close lids make it a more polished alternative to a simple open-top bin, but they also mean the purchase is about a double-bin format rather than just adding the most basic waste container. The maker says scent pods in the lids neutralize unpleasant odors. Keep in mind that the listing does not say whether those pods are replaceable or how long they last, so treat odor control as an added feature rather than the main reason to buy.

How to take care of it

Removable inner buckets make it easier to take a full liner to the trash and clean the bucket separately from the outer can. The product information does not give special cleaning instructions, so there’s no basis to recommend a particular cleaner or method. For daily use, the bag hole is there to help keep the liner from slipping down as waste is added. The package includes 15 trash bags, and the can is listed as compatible with SONGMICS 8-gallon bags, code H.

Practical tips

If you want the lid to stay open while handling a larger cleanup, press the pedal to open it, then release the pedal and lift the lid manually to 90 degrees. That can be handy when you’re scraping several plates in a row or changing a liner. The two pedals also let you open only the side you need, rather than exposing both bins at once.

Before choosing a spot, think about the space needed for the unit and for lifting out the buckets. No overall dimensions are provided here, so the capacity alone won’t tell you whether it fits under a counter or in a narrow kitchen gap. It makes sense if you want two waste categories together and value hands-free access, Not the best choice if you need a single compact bin or need confirmed fit measurements before buying.

Practical doubts

Does it come with liners? Yes. The listing says 15 trash bags are included, and identifies SONGMICS 8-gallon bags, code H, as compatible.

Can a lid stay open without holding the pedal down? Yes. Open it with the pedal, then release the pedal and lift the lid manually to 90 degrees.

Can the buckets be removed? Yes. Both inner buckets are removable, which supports separate emptying and cleaning.

When it makes sense

Choose this SONGMICS model if a shared outer unit with two 8-gallon buckets suits your sorting routine better than two standalone cans. The soft-close lids, foot pedals, removable buckets, and included liners make the day-to-day setup more complete than a plain bin. Skip it if your priority is a verified fit for a specific cabinet or a straightforward single-compartment can, the available details don’t establish its exterior measurements.
