Shadow Tarot Deck 78 Cards

If you want tarot mainly for quick, predictive readings, a conventional deck may be a better fit. This one is framed around a different kind of session: looking at recurring emotions, hidden patterns, and personal conflicts through a darker, more psychological lens.

That focus makes it better suited to slow reflection than casual, lighthearted pulls.

Key specifications

The deck contains 78 cards across the Major and Minor Arcana. Each card is intended to prompt self-inquiry around limiting beliefs, emotional habits, and inner conflict. The stated format is 2.74 x 4.72 inches (70 mm x 120 mm), printed on 400 GSM coated paper.

Those details help set expectations for a physical deck, but they don’t tell you how the cards handle, shuffle, or feel in practice. Without having tried it, I’d treat its psychological angle as a journaling prompt rather than a promise that a card can diagnose a personal issue. The gothic aesthetic and introspective theme are central to the appeal, so readers looking for traditional, upbeat imagery may not connect with its direction.

Who it’s for

This deck is intended for experienced tarot readers and people prepared to spend time on deeper self-reflection. It could suit someone who already knows how to read tarot and wants prompts centered on emotional awareness, rather than a reading focused mainly on prediction. It may also appeal to tarot enthusiasts drawn to dark imagery and personal-growth themes.

A practical way to use that focus is to draw a card after a tense conversation, then write down what reaction or recurring pattern it brings to mind. The value here is in the reflection you bring to the reading, the deck’s description doesn’t promise easy answers or a beginner-friendly learning path. Not the best choice if you’re new to tarot and want a gentle introduction, or if you prefer lighter readings.

Included in the package

The stated contents are all 78 tarot cards, including the Major and Minor Arcana. No additional materials are specified, so don’t assume a guidebook, storage box, or other accessory is included based on the available details. If you rely on written instructions to learn a deck, that missing information matters before choosing it.

Practical doubts

Is this deck suitable for a beginner? It is described as not being a beginner tarot deck. Its emphasis is on introspection and shadow work, so it’s aimed more at experienced readers or people ready for that kind of personal exploration.

What does it include? The listed contents are 78 cards covering the Major and Minor Arcana. Other package items aren’t specified.

What are the card dimensions and material? The cards are listed as 2.74 x 4.72 inches (70 mm x 120 mm) and made from 400 GSM coated paper. Those are useful details if size and stock matter to your reading setup, though they don’t establish how the deck feels in hand.

When it makes sense

It makes sense if you want a tarot deck with a clear psychological focus and plan to use readings for self-reflection, journaling, or exploring emotional patterns. It’s a more specialized choice than a general-purpose or beginner-oriented deck, which is useful when that darker approach is exactly what you want. Skip it if your priority is learning basic tarot with guidance, lighter imagery, or a package with accessories that are explicitly listed.
