## Description

## Key points

The PG245XL format is the main draw here: each black cartridge is listed for up to 500 pages at 5% page coverage, which can mean fewer cartridge changes for routine printing than a lower-yield option.

The package contains two black PG245XL cartridges. They’re replacement cartridges, not an OEM product, so this set is aimed at buyers who are comfortable using a third-party option.

Keep in mind that the 500-page figure assumes 5% coverage on Letter/A4 pages. Pages with heavy graphics or large areas of black may use ink faster. From the way it is set up, this set makes the most sense for everyday text rather than jobs where you need to match a specific OEM cartridge.

## Best use cases

This cartridge set is intended for compatible Canon PIXMA printers, including models in the MG, MX, TR, TS, and IP series. Listed examples include the MG2522, MX490, TR4520, TS3122, TS3322, and IP2820. The full compatibility list also names other models, so use the exact printer model—not just its series name—as your deciding check.

For a practical example, it could suit a home setup that prints school pages, forms, or a few black-and-white documents at a time. Two cartridges on hand can also be useful if you’d rather keep a spare ready than wait until the current one runs out. If you print mostly photos or dense, ink-heavy pages, the stated yield may be less relevant to your actual use.

## Tips for day-to-day use

Before ordering, match your printer’s model number against the supported list. Similar-looking PIXMA names aren’t enough to establish compatibility, and the product information doesn’t say that this cartridge works with every Canon printer.

For a fair expectation of page life, treat the yield as an estimate tied to the stated 5% coverage condition. A page of plain text and a page filled with dark graphics won’t necessarily use the same amount of ink. The listing says the cartridges use an upgraded chip for compatibility, but it doesn’t provide further details about setup or printer prompts.

## Questions before you buy

**How many cartridges are included?** The package contents list two black PG245XL cartridges.

**What does the 500-page figure mean?** It is the listed yield per cartridge at 5% coverage on Letter/A4 pages, not a guarantee for every mix of documents.

**Is this an OEM Canon cartridge?** No. The product description identifies it as a replacement and says it is not an OEM product.

## When it makes sense

A solid pick if your exact PIXMA model appears in the compatibility list and you mainly need black ink for regular document printing. Compared with choosing an OEM cartridge, this is the third-party replacement route, the trade-off is that it is not an original Canon product, and real page life depends on what you print.

It might not be a great match if you can’t confirm your printer model, need an OEM cartridge specifically, or expect the listed yield to hold for pages with substantial ink coverage. For a supported printer and ordinary text jobs, the two-cartridge pack is a practical way to keep a spare available.
