RYB HOME Velvet Curtains, 84 Inches

For anyone dressing a bedroom, nursery, or doorway who wants a softer look along with less incoming light, these sage green velvet curtains combine plush fabric with several hanging options. The set includes two panels, each 42 inches wide by 84 inches long, for 84 inches of total width. Their room-darkening claim is partial rather than blackout: the listing says they block 65%–85% of light and UV rays, with darker colors working better. It’s a great fit if you want decorative panels that can also help create a more private, comfortable setting for naps or TV time.

Where it shines

The velvet gives a window or doorway a fuller, more dressed-up look than a basic flat curtain, while the sage green color adds a muted accent without turning the panels into the room’s main event. In a bedroom, they could help soften bright daylight during a nap, in a nursery, they can add privacy and reduce incoming light. The listing also describes the thick panels as helping keep heat down in summer and cold out in winter, though it doesn’t provide measured energy savings. If you prioritize a more tailored appearance and flexible hanging styles, these have more options than a straightforward rod-pocket-only curtain, if you prefer a lightweight sheer that keeps a room bright, this is a different kind of choice.

Key points

Each panel measures 42 inches wide by 84 inches long, and the pair is 84 inches wide in total. The top includes pleat tape and tabs, plus a 2.3-inch back loop and a 3.3-inch rod pocket. That gives you several ways to hang the curtains and change their look without changing the panels. The trade-off is that the listing doesn’t establish how much light they’ll block in your specific room, the stated 65%–85% range varies, and dark colors are said to perform better. They’re described as privacy-protecting, but shoppers who need a reliably dark room should treat them as room-darkening curtains, not assume full blackout coverage. Measure your window and rod needs before choosing, don’t settle on a setup without that measurement.

How to take care of it

The curtains can be machine washed on a gentle cycle or dry-cleaned. For creases from packaging, the care instructions suggest steaming or ironing on low heat from the back. That gives you a straightforward way to refresh the velvet, but the listing doesn’t specify additional fabric-care details, so stick to the stated gentle approach rather than assuming the material can take high heat or a rough wash.

Is it worth it?

These panels make sense if the look of velvet, flexible hanging methods, and partial light reduction matter more than blackout performance. The two-panel format and stated dimensions give you a useful starting point for a bedroom window or doorway, but total width alone won’t tell you how much fullness you’ll get on your particular rod. Better avoided if you need complete darkness, want a sheer fabric, or haven’t confirmed that the 84-inch length suits the space. For a decorative curtain that can dim a room and add privacy, the feature mix is practical, for a precise light-control result, the stated range leaves some uncertainty.
