## Description

The TFT screen and metal knob put connection mode, battery status, layout selection, and lighting controls within quick reach. That makes the RK ROYAL KLUDGE S104 useful for a desk setup where you want to adjust settings without relying on dedicated software for every change.

Its 101-key layout includes a number pad, while tri-mode connectivity lets you switch between Bluetooth, 2.4GHz wireless, and USB-C wired use. If you need a smaller keyboard for a limited desk, a compact layout may be a better fit, the S104 favors a full set of keys and built-in controls.

## Best use cases

This is a full-size mechanical keyboard for gaming, office work, programming, and other desk tasks where a number pad is useful. The knob can adjust volume, lighting, and connection settings, and the display shows details such as battery status and the selected Windows or Mac layout. The screen can also show custom GIFs through the web-based driver.

For a shared desk or a setup that moves between devices, the three connection options offer flexibility: Bluetooth 5.0, 2.4GHz wireless, or USB-C. The product information also describes wired compatibility with some games on PS4, PS5, and Xbox, rather than promising compatibility with every game or console setup.

## Why it’s worth it

The top-mounted structure, double-shot PBT keycaps, and five-layer dampening stack give buyers more to consider than lighting alone. The dampening stack includes two sound-absorbing foams, an IXPE switch pad, a PET pad, and a silicone pad. These components are intended to reduce hollow case sound, though the listed description does not establish how the keyboard will sound in every room or setup.

The hot-swappable PCB supports both 3-pin and 5-pin switches, so the switches can be changed without soldering. It comes with Linear Cream switches and includes four backup switches plus a keycap-and-switch puller. That makes it more adaptable than a keyboard with fixed switches, while still offering a ready-to-use linear setup out of the box.

## What to clarify

**What does the TFT screen display?** It can show custom GIFs, date, connection mode, battery status, and Windows or Mac layout. Screen customization is done through the web-based driver with the keyboard connected by USB-C.

**Can it connect to more than one type of device?** It supports Bluetooth, 2.4GHz wireless, and USB-C wired connections. The listing describes use with computers, phones, tablets, and some console games in wired mode, compatibility can depend on the device or game.

**Can you change the switches later?** The hot-swappable PCB supports 3-pin and 5-pin switches. Four backup switches and a puller are included, but the listing does not specify that additional switch types are included.

## When it makes sense

Worth considering if you want a full-size keyboard with a number pad, adjustable RGB, and the option to change switches or move between wired and wireless connections. The battery capacity and stated runtimes may also suit longer stretches away from a cable, with the listed runtime varying depending on whether RGB is on.

Not the best choice if your priority is saving desk space: this 101-key layout includes a number pad, unlike a compact keyboard. It also makes most sense when you’ll use the screen, knob, multiple connection modes, or switch customization, if you only need basic typing, those controls may be more than your setup requires.
