## Description

This whole house carbon block cartridge from PUREPLUS combines chlorine and sediment reduction with a compact 10" x 4.5" format for use in standard heavy-duty filter housings. It is aimed at improving tap water taste and odor for whole-home filtration, offering a 5 micron rating and coconut shell activated carbon designed for everyday domestic use.

## Key Points

The cartridge uses 100% coconut shell activated carbon in a CTO configuration to reduce chlorine, color and common particulates, according to the manufacturer. It is compatible with most standard 10" x 4.5" housings and replacement models, so it fits a wide range of systems from brands like Dupont and GE. Consider that it may not perform as expected on untreated well water, where different media are normally required. 😊

## Technical Specifications

- Name: **PUREPLUS 5 Micron 10" x 4.5" Whole House CTO**
- Micron rating: 5 micron
- Size: 10" x 4.5"
- Material: Coconut shell activated carbon block
- Capacity: Up to 30,000 gallons, according to the manufacturer

## Advantages

Using an activated carbon block provides a high surface area for adsorption, which helps reduce chlorine taste and odor and captures fine suspended particles. The CTO format (chlorine, taste, odor) focuses on improving water palatability while also lowering visible discoloration. Installation in a whole-house housing allows filtered water at multiple outlets without separate point-of-use cartridges.

## Usage Recommendations

Replace the cartridge every 3 to 6 months for an average household, depending on water quality and flow, to maintain effective chlorine and sediment reduction. When installing, ensure the housing is a standard 10" x 4.5" heavy-duty model and follow the housing manufacturer’s instructions for pressure testing and sealing. Note that for water sources with high sediment load or specific contaminants like hardness minerals or bacterial contamination, a pre-filter or different media may be necessary.

## The Essentials

This PUREPLUS replacement cartridge is compatible with many OEM part numbers and housings including Dupont WFHDC8001, Pelican CB-BB-10 and various GE and Whirlpool models. It has undergone multiple production checks and manufacturer-stated tests aimed at material safety and performance. ⚙️
