## Description

Some listeners want a portable setup, others want wired headphones for music at home. The PHILIPS SHP9600/00 is designed for home listening, with an open-back construction and over-ear fit. Its detachable 3.0 m cable gives you room to settle in at a desk or home audio setup.

## Everyday use

Connect the headphones through the 3.5 mm jack to a compatible phone, TV, desktop, or laptop. The included 1/4-inch-to-3.5 mm adapter also supports connection to equipment with a 1/4-inch headphone output. At a desk, the cable’s length can make it easier to move comfortably while listening without switching to a wireless setup. The open-back design gives the sound a spacious presentation for everyday music sessions at home.

The 50 mm dynamic drivers are tuned to bring out crisp bass, balanced midrange, and high frequencies. Their shape is designed around the natural geometry of the ear, supporting an over-ear listening experience across different types of music. A 32-ohm impedance and 101 dB sensitivity complete the core audio specifications.

## Strengths

Comfort and construction are central to the SHP9600/00’s design. The headband is reinforced with steel, with a double-layer cushion, while breathable ear-cup cushions are intended to support longer listening sessions. Neodymium magnets power the drivers, and the cable detaches from the headphones for easier handling when setting up or storing your listening gear.

Buyer feedback is favorable about comfort and the cable’s length, while sound quality and fit receive mixed opinions. Some listeners describe the sound as clear, others are less satisfied. Feedback on build quality is also divided, and some buyers report that an earpiece broke after use. This range of experiences is useful context when weighing comfort and an open-back wired design against the importance you place on long-term durability.

## What matters most

The main choice is the listening style: this is a wired, open-back headphone for home use, rather than a product centered on wireless convenience. Its 3.5 mm connection works with the listed devices, and the included adapter makes it practical to connect to a 1/4-inch headphone output. The detachable 3.0 m cable is a useful fit for a fixed listening spot where extra reach matters.

The open acoustic system, 50 mm drivers, and over-ear form work together to give music listening a spacious, full-size feel. That makes the SHP9600/00 especially relevant for listening at a desk, enjoying albums at home, or connecting to a TV or computer. It also appears in searches for headphones for recording, podcasts, DJ use, piano, and guitar, its documented strengths are the wired connection, open-back design, and home-listening focus.

## When it makes sense

It suits you if you want a full-size, wired headphone for relaxed listening at home and value an open-back design, a long detachable cable, and connections for common audio devices. The reinforced steel headband and cushioned, breathable ear cups add practical comfort details for extended sessions. For a home setup that prioritizes spacious listening and straightforward wired connections, the SHP9600/00 brings those features together in one over-ear design.
