Owleys Kick Mat Back Seat Protector

Families looking to keep the backs of their front seats cleaner during rides with kids may find the Owleys kick mat useful, especially when muddy shoes or everyday scuffs are a concern. It combines a waterproof surface with several backing and support layers, rather than relying on a thin, basic seat cover. The design is described as fitting most vehicles with detachable headrests, including SUVs and vans. Keep in mind that the fit is not stated to cover every vehicle or seat configuration.

What matters most

The practical benefit is coverage between passengers’ feet and the seat upholstery. After a stop at the park, for example, a child can climb into the back seat with dirty sneakers without their feet rubbing directly against the seatback. The maker describes the protector as waterproof and resistant to dirt, mud, scratches, and stains, with a color-safe design intended not to transfer marks to light or dark upholstery.

Its construction includes vegan leather, high-density foam, 600D Oxford fabric, anti-slip rubber, and metal buckles. That layered approach may appeal to parents who want more than a simple fabric panel, though the listing does not provide measurements or explain how much of each seatback the mat covers. It suits you if your priority is a wipeable barrier for the areas kids are likely to kick. It might not be a great match if you need a precisely sized cover or protection for parts of the vehicle beyond the front seatbacks.

Care & maintenance

The stated cleanup routine is simple: wipe stains with a damp cloth or wet wipe. That should be convenient for mud or small marks picked up during a trip, without removing the cover for routine spot cleaning. Installation is described as taking about a minute, with metal buckles as part of the construction. The product is also described as using non-toxic, recyclable materials, but the listing does not give further care instructions for the individual layers.

Practical tips

Before choosing it, check whether the front seats in your vehicle have detachable headrests, since the fit is specified for most cars with that feature. The listing names SUVs and vans as examples, but does not provide a vehicle-by-vehicle fit list. A basic towel or loose cloth may be easier to improvise, but it can shift around, this protector’s anti-slip rubber and buckles are meant to help keep it in place. For day-to-day use, wiping visible dirt soon after a drive is a straightforward way to keep the surface presentable.

Before you decide

Is it designed for kids’ feet? Yes. Its stated purpose is to protect the backs of vehicle seats from dirt, mud, scratches, and stains caused by passengers’ feet.

How do you clean it? The care guidance says to use a damp cloth or wet wipe to remove stains.

Will it fit any car? The listing says it fits most cars with detachable headrests, including SUVs and vans. It does not promise a universal fit for every seat.

When it makes sense

Choose this Owleys protector if you regularly carry kids and want a wipe-clean layer between their shoes and the upholstery, and your seats have detachable headrests. Its multi-layer construction and buckles offer a more structured approach than a loose cloth, while the lack of measurements means shoppers who need exact coverage should look for a product with dimensions and vehicle-specific fit details instead.
