## Description

Place Ortho Home Defense ant traps near visible ant activity in the kitchen, along entry points, or around outdoor areas where ants are gathering. Each metal bait station is designed to let worker ants feed on the bait and carry it back to the nest, targeting the colony rather than only the ants seen on the surface.

The stations are made for indoor and outdoor use and are listed as effective against pavement, acrobat, pyramid, white-footed, little black, and Argentine ants. Their compact, 2.13-inch square footprint makes them easy to position near affected areas.

## Best use cases
These bait stations suit targeted ant control in places where trails or activity are visible, such as near a home’s entry points or in an outdoor area with ants. The bait-based approach is different from simply spraying ants on contact: worker ants feed at the station and return to the nest, where the bait is intended to affect the colony and its queen. That makes the stations useful when the goal is to address activity beyond the individual ants in view.

The product names several common ant types, including pavement, acrobat, pyramid, white-footed, little black, and Argentine ants. Buyers often describe the stations as easy to put out, while feedback on effectiveness and durability varies. Opinions about use around pets are also mixed, so place stations where children and pets cannot reach them.

## Usage tips
Remove a station from its packaging, puncture the metal bait station to activate the formula, and place it near an affected area. Positioning it close to observed ant activity gives worker ants access to the bait as they move along their route. Use the stations indoors or outdoors according to where the ants are appearing, rather than placing them without a clear connection to the activity.

For a severe ant problem, the product directions recommend replacing the bait station after 30 days. Keep placement deliberate and follow the product’s handling directions, especially in areas shared with children or pets. The metal casing is designed to help prevent bait from spilling, while the bait itself provides the colony-targeting approach.

## Final verdict
Ortho Home Defense ant traps bring together a metal bait station and a bait intended to travel from worker ants back to the nest. They are a practical fit for people addressing visible ant activity indoors or outdoors, particularly when they want a station-based option that targets more than the ants immediately in sight. Their named coverage of several ant types and straightforward placement make them easy to incorporate into a focused ant-control plan.
