## Description

For runners and gym-goers who want pockets that zip shut, these NORTHYARD athletic shorts pair a lightweight stretch fabric with an unlined design. They’re offered in 5-, 7-, and 9-inch inseams, so the cut is a meaningful part of the choice, not just a color preference.

The practical tradeoff is straightforward: if you prioritize a place to secure small essentials, the three zip pockets stand out, if you prefer built-in lining, this pair doesn’t provide it.

## Where it shines
The fabric is 90% polyester and 10% elastane, with four-way stretch and moisture-wicking construction intended to move sweat away from the body. That combination suits workouts where you’re changing direction, stretching, or moving between exercises. Side vents add airflow, while the elastic waistband and drawstring let you adjust the fit. The flatlock seams are designed to reduce chafing during longer sessions.

Picture heading out for a jog with a cell phone in a side pocket and keys in the back pocket: the zippers help keep those items contained as you move. Two deep side pockets and one back pocket give you more storage than a basic pair with open pockets, though carrying bulky items may still feel distracting during a run.

## Highlights
Reflective strips on the front and back can make you more visible in low-light conditions, such as an early run or an evening walk. They’re a visibility detail, not a substitute for choosing a safe route or adding other reflective gear. The listing also specifies UPF 50+ sun protection and a water-resistant coating, useful details for outdoor activity, but it doesn’t describe how long either feature lasts or how the shorts perform in sustained rain.

The shorts are unlined, with a relaxed athletic fit and an adjustable waistband. Available options include 29+ colors, sizes XS–4XL, and three inseam lengths: 5, 7, and 9 inches. On the spec sheet, the range makes it easier to choose a shorter or longer cut, but the best fit depends on your preferred coverage and the size you select. It’s a great fit if you want quick-drying workout shorts with zip storage for activities such as running, basketball, tennis, hiking, or gym training.

## Maintenance
These shorts are machine washable, which keeps routine care simple after a sweaty workout. The description doesn’t give washing temperature or drying instructions, so follow the garment’s care label rather than assuming special fabric care. The lightweight, unlined construction may also feel less substantial than shorts with a built-in liner, plan for your usual underlayer if that matters to you.

## Final verdict
Choose these if adjustable waist fit, multiple zip pockets, and a choice of inseam are more useful to you than built-in lining. Compared with simpler athletic shorts that rely on open pockets, the zipped storage is the clear point of difference for carrying small essentials during movement. Better avoided if you specifically want lined shorts, or if you need detailed care guidance and performance limits before buying. The 5-, 7-, and 9-inch options give you a practical way to narrow the choice by coverage, while the unlined design remains the main tradeoff to weigh.
