## Description

For a home office, small business, or conference room that needs wired connections and PoE power in one place, the NETGEAR GS305PP brings both together. It has five Gigabit Ethernet ports, including four PoE+ ports. Choose a compact unmanaged switch like this when straightforward expansion matters more than advanced network configuration.

## Getting the most from it
Connect the switch to your existing network to add wired ports for devices around a desk, meeting space, or small office. Four ports can provide PoE+ power, helping simplify connections for compatible devices by carrying data and power over Ethernet. The fifth port adds another Gigabit wired connection.

Its 83W total PoE budget and dynamic power allocation support a shared-power setup: unused power can be redistributed to devices that need more. That makes it useful when several PoE devices share a single switch. For a setup that only needs additional wired connections, a basic non-PoE switch is a different approach, the GS305PP is designed for networks that also need PoE+.

## What stands out
Plug-and-play operation keeps setup simple, with no software installation or configuration required. The ports automatically negotiate the optimal speed for connected devices, and the switch works with existing Cat5e or Cat6 Ethernet cables. Gigabit connectivity supports wired network connections at up to 1 Gbps.

A fanless design keeps operation quiet, while the metal case supports desktop or wall-mounted placement. For example, mount it near a router or modem in a small office, then connect wired equipment and compatible PoE+ devices from the same location. IEEE 802.3az Energy Efficient Ethernet is also designed to reduce power consumption without compromising high-speed network performance.

Customers describe the switch as functioning reliably and praise its build quality. Those comments reflect buyer impressions, while the practical features here are its unmanaged setup, four PoE+ ports, and flexible placement.
