## Description

## Technical overview
For metalworkers and DIYers preparing metal surfaces, Merryland’s purple strip discs are designed to remove paint, rust, and other buildup. Each disc measures 2 inches and uses silicon carbide abrasive material. The 20-pack gives you multiple discs for surface-prep jobs, while the included 1/4-inch shank fits the intended tool setup.

Use these stripping wheels to address rust, dirt, paint, weld spatter, scale, and oxidation on metal, including iron, steel, and stainless steel. Their purpose is surface cleaning and coating removal, making them a practical alternative to a conventional grinding wheel when the task is cleanup rather than shaping metal. The bonded construction supports the disc’s stripping format, and the purple color identifies this version in the product line.

## Compatibility & requirements
The discs are designed for die grinders and are also described as compatible with drills. For removal tasks, the product is intended to perform best on a high-speed die grinder. The maximum rotational speed is 10,000 rpm, so match the tool’s speed to that limit before use. The included 1/4-inch round shank provides the connection point for a compatible tool.

A practical setup is to secure the disc in the tool, confirm the shank is firmly seated, and work over a metal surface that needs paint or rust removal. Keep the tool within the stated speed limit and follow the tool manufacturer’s operating and safety instructions. The quick-change system is designed for disc replacement using the same shank without additional tools, which is useful when moving through a larger cleanup job with multiple discs.

## Getting the most from it
Choose these discs when the goal is to clear coatings or surface contamination before further metalwork, refinishing, or restoration. For example, they can be used to clean rust and old paint from a metal component, or to remove weld spatter and scale during surface preparation. A stripping disc is a focused choice for this kind of cleanup, a grinding wheel serves a different role when the task calls for grinding or reshaping material.

Work in a controlled manner over the area being cleaned, letting the disc address the paint, rust, or residue without treating it as a cutting accessory. The 2-inch format is suited to targeted surface-prep work, and having 20 discs on hand supports jobs that involve several areas or repeated disc changes. Use the same 1/4-inch shank connection when replacing a disc, and keep the grinder or drill within the stated maximum speed.

## Should you buy it?
It makes sense if your projects involve removing paint, rust, scale, or weld residue from metal and you want a dedicated stripping accessory rather than a wheel intended for general grinding. The 2-inch purple discs, silicon carbide abrasive, quick-change setup, and 20-piece pack make this set a practical fit for metal surface preparation and restoration tasks. Pair it with a compatible tool, especially a die grinder, and use it within the 10,000 rpm maximum for the work it is designed to do.
