MAONO PD400X Dynamic Microphone, USB/XLR, Cardioid, Tap-to-Mute
Product description
A podcast mic needs to do more than capture a voice: it should fit the way you connect and give you practical control during a recording. The MAONO PD400X offers both USB and XLR outputs, so you can choose a direct computer connection or route audio through compatible professional equipment.
Its dynamic capsule and unidirectional cardioid pickup pattern are designed for podcasting, streaming, gaming, voice-over, and recording. A desktop stand, wind foam, and connection cables are included to support a convenient desktop setup.
Use USB for plug-and-play computer connection and access to MAONO Link controls. Prefer an audio interface or mixer? Connect through XLR and manage the signal with your external equipment.
Practical tips
For a straightforward PC, Mac, or laptop setup, connect the microphone by USB. The onboard controls make it easy to adjust mic gain, headphone volume, and monitor mix, while the tap-to-mute button lets you silence the mic quickly. A headphone jack supports direct monitoring when using USB, keeping listening and microphone adjustments close at hand.
In MAONO Link, USB users can select a vocal tone and working distance in Standard Mode, or adjust options such as EQ, gain, monitor mix, limiter, and compressor in Advanced Mode. The software and the microphone’s function keys and headphone monitoring are USB features, with XLR, use the controls on a connected mixer or audio interface. What matters more for your setup: a simple computer connection or integration with recording equipment? The PD400X supports either approach.
Benefits
The cardioid pattern is intended to focus pickup toward the speaker and help reduce unwanted background sound, a useful design for home recording, streaming, and other voice-led work. Its dynamic microphone design and 40 Hz–16 kHz frequency range suit spoken-word and vocal applications, while the metal body provides a sturdy form for a desktop recording space.
The three-in-one control knob brings gain, headphone volume, and monitor mix adjustments together. Pair that with tap-to-mute and an LED indicator, and common changes are easy to make without leaving your desk. Buyers often praise the microphone’s sound, solid construction, and software adjustment options. Feedback on connectivity is mixed, with some buyers mentioning a loose USB-C port, so a secure cable connection is a sensible part of setting up.
