## Description

At 4 x 4 x 8.86 inches, the MAONO PD100 XLR is a compact metal-body microphone designed for a desktop recording setup. Its cardioid pickup pattern focuses on sound from the front, while the built-in double-layer pop filter helps reduce plosive sounds during spoken recordings.

The top-address design lets you speak toward the top of the mic, and the included stand, weighted round base, and rod extender help position it on a desk for podcasting, streaming, or voiceover work.

## Who it’s for

The PD100 is suited to podcasters, streamers, voiceover artists, and creators recording vocals at home or in a studio. Its XLR connection makes it a practical fit for a setup built around an audio interface, mixer, or sound card. If you already use external audio equipment, this format lets the microphone connect into that workflow, a USB microphone is a different approach for those seeking a direct USB connection.

The unidirectional cardioid pattern is useful when you want the mic oriented toward your voice during a recording or live session. The top-facing pickup design supports a straightforward speaking position, while the included desk base keeps the mic placed within reach. The 2.36-inch rod extender can raise the microphone closer to you.

## Why it makes sense

The dynamic capsule, cardioid pickup, and built-in pop filter bring several voice-focused features together in one desktop mic. The pop filter helps attenuate plosives, while the directional pickup pattern provides a clear orientation for speaking into the microphone. This can make the PD100 a convenient starting point for a home recording position without building a setup around a handheld mic.

The metal construction and weighted round base give the desktop arrangement a solid, stable footprint. Use the extender to bring the mic closer, then connect the XLR cable to an audio interface or mixer for podcast recording, streaming, singing, or voiceover. Buyers commonly appreciate the metal build and straightforward setup, feedback on sound and noise levels is mixed, so the right result depends on the recording setup and how the mic is used.

## Questions before you buy

**What equipment does the PD100 connect to?** It uses an XLR connection and is intended to work with an audio interface, audio mixer, or sound card. It does not connect directly to a cell phone or PlayStation 5, those setups require an audio interface.

**Does this dynamic microphone need 48V phantom power?** No. The PD100 is a dynamic microphone and does not require phantom power.

**What comes with the microphone?** The set includes the PD100 microphone, a 6.56 ft (2 m) XLR cable, a mic rod extender, a heavy round base, and a user guide.

## When it makes sense

Choose the PD100 when your recording plans call for an XLR dynamic mic with a desktop base and voice-focused features. For a podcast episode, stream, or voiceover, place it on the desk, position it with the extender, and connect it to your audio interface or mixer. Its compact format and included stand components make it especially useful for creators who want a dedicated speaking position as part of an existing XLR setup.
