Liaycco MBP-01 Burlap Fabric Roll, 40 Inches Wide x 5 Feet, Natural Jute

Gardeners looking to wrap a tree, cover a small patch of soil, or protect plants with cut-to-fit fabric may appreciate this 40-inch-wide, 5-foot-long Liaycco burlap roll. It is made from natural jute and is also intended for DIY projects and rustic decorations, so the same material can serve garden and craft uses.

Its roll format lets you cut pieces for a particular job rather than relying on a pre-shaped cover. The listed length is 5 feet, so it’s best considered for smaller tasks or limited coverage, not a large continuous area.

Getting the most from it

For tree wrapping, the product instructions suggest starting near the base, spiraling the burlap upward, and securing it with rope. You can also cut a section to lay over a flowerbed or use as a soil cover. For crafts, the natural texture suits projects such as table runners, gift wrapping, wreaths, and seasonal décor. What makes a roll more useful than a ready-made shape? The ability to cut it for different tasks, though each cut reduces the material available for later use.

The fabric is described as unbleached and undyed, with reinforced selvage edges and a tight weave. Air and moisture can pass through the jute, which is relevant when choosing a cover for outdoor plants. That does not make it a guaranteed substitute for a purpose-designed plant cover in every weather or growing situation.

What stands out

The main appeal is versatility in a compact roll: garden wrapping, ground cover, and decorative projects all use the same natural material. For a small planting bed or a single tree, cutting a section to size may be more practical than buying a larger roll or a pre-cut cover. If the job calls for covering a broad area, the stated 5-foot length may not provide enough material.

Buyer feedback is mixed on the fabric itself: some describe it as sturdy and useful outdoors, while others say the weave feels thin. Some also report an unpleasant chemical odor. These are individual impressions rather than a stated product specification, but they may matter if you plan to use the burlap indoors or handle it for an extended craft project.
