## Description

With 1TB of storage in an M.2 2280 format, the Lexar NM790 NVMe SSD gives compatible desktops, laptops, and PlayStation 5 consoles room for games, projects, and large files.

Its PCIe Gen 4x4 interface delivers read speeds up to 7,400 MB/s and write speeds up to 6,500 MB/s. The built-in heatsink is part of the drive, while Host Memory Buffer 3.0 and Dynamic SLC Cache support data transfers.

Choose this drive when you want an internal SSD for a compatible system, rather than a separate external drive for portable storage. Its console compatibility and compact M.2 format suit a gaming setup, while the high stated transfer speeds also serve file-heavy creative work.

## Specifications
- Capacity: 1TB
- Interface: NVMe, PCIe Gen 4x4
- Form factor: M.2 2280
- Read speed: Up to 7,400 MB/s
- Write speed: Up to 6,500 MB/s
- Features: Built-in heatsink, Host Memory Buffer 3.0, Dynamic SLC Cache
- Compatibility: Desktop computers, laptops, and PlayStation 5

The heatsink is integrated into the drive, making it a practical fit for a build where you want the SSD and its thermal component together. The 1TB capacity provides space for a substantial game library or working files, and the M.2 2280 format is designed for compatible internal storage slots. Confirm that your system supports this form factor and PCIe interface before installation.

## Best use cases
For PS5 storage expansion, this NVMe SSD combines a stated console compatibility with a built-in heatsink and fast read and write specifications. In a desktop or laptop, it can serve as internal storage for games, creative projects, and larger files. A console-focused buyer may prioritize the heatsink and PS5 compatibility, someone moving files between devices may prefer an external portable drive instead. The NM790 is designed for an internal M.2 installation, keeping the focus on a system upgrade.

Customer feedback highlights use with PS5, the drive’s speed, and straightforward installation. Buyers also appreciate the heatsink and storage capacity. These are individual impressions, while the drive’s listed compatibility, format, and speed ratings provide concrete points to consider for a system upgrade.

## Everyday use
The drive’s 1TB capacity can help keep games and active files on one internal SSD. For a PS5 setup, its M.2 2280 form factor and heatsink bring the storage expansion into the console, for a computer, the same compact format suits a compatible internal slot. HMB 3.0 and Dynamic SLC Cache are designed to support smooth data transfers, making the NM790 relevant to both game libraries and large project files.

## Should you buy it?
It makes sense if you need a 1TB internal NVMe drive for a compatible PS5, desktop, or laptop and want a heatsink-equipped M.2 2280 model. The combination of PCIe Gen 4x4, up to 7,400 MB/s read speed, up to 6,500 MB/s write speed, and onboard cache features gives you clear specifications to match against your storage needs. For a gaming or content-creation setup that uses a supported M.2 slot, the NM790 brings fast internal storage and a built-in heatsink together in one drive.
