## Description

## Where it shines
Adjustable Hall Effect actuation lets you set how far a key travels before it registers, giving you more control over input for gaming or everyday typing. The K8 HE keeps the arrow and function keys in a compact TKL layout, leaving more desk room for mouse movement. Want to switch between a gaming setup and a laptop without changing keyboards? Its 2.4 GHz, Bluetooth, and USB-C modes support that kind of flexible setup. The aluminum and wood frame also gives this black keyboard a distinctive look.

Buyers praise the keyboard’s feel and appearance, including the wood trim, and some describe its sound as quiet and thock-like. Feedback on wireless connectivity is mixed, so Bluetooth performance may not be equally smooth in every setup. Opinions on value also differ. Those impressions can help set expectations, but they don’t replace checking the features that matter for your own use.

## Key takeaways
The K8 HE has 87 keys and an 80% layout, retaining arrow and function keys while keeping the footprint smaller than a full-size keyboard. Its Gateron Double-rail Magnetic Switches use Hall Effect sensing, with adjustable actuation from 0.2 mm to 3.8 mm and Rapid Trigger resets based on key travel. These features are aimed at users who want to tune key response, particularly for fast-paced games, they’re also configurable for different typing preferences.

Use 2.4 GHz or USB-C for a stated 1,000 Hz polling rate, or Bluetooth 5.2 for wireless pairing with up to three devices. The keyboard is listed as compatible with Windows, macOS, Linux, and Bluetooth tablets. Double-shot PBT keycaps, RGB backlighting, and an aluminum plate round out the main specifications. Key remapping, macros, and actuation settings are available through QMK or the Keychron Launcher web app.

## How to use it
For a gaming profile, adjust actuation depth and Rapid Trigger settings in the web app or QMK, then use 2.4 GHz or wired USB-C if the stated polling rate is a priority. For desk work across devices, Bluetooth pairing provides another connection option, the keyboard can pair with up to three devices. The hot-swappable design allows compatible Hall Effect switches to be changed without soldering, which gives switch customization a different path than replacing a whole keyboard. Check switch compatibility before buying replacements, since the listed hot-swap support is for magnetic switches.

## When it makes sense
It’s a great fit if you want a compact wireless keyboard that combines customizable magnetic actuation with a distinctive wood-and-aluminum frame. It can suit a desk used for both gaming and work, especially if keeping arrow and function keys matters more than having a full-size layout. The 80% format is not the same as a full-size keyboard, so It’s not for you if a dedicated number pad is essential. Compared with a simpler TKL keyboard, the K8 HE’s appeal is its adjustable Hall Effect input and configuration options, if those controls aren’t useful to you, a less specialized layout may be a better match.
