## Description

## What to know

If you mainly want a dryer that handles bulky household loads, the Kenmore front-load gas dryer’s 8.0 cu. ft. capacity is the feature to focus on. If your priority is a smaller footprint or a simpler set of controls, its large capacity and 12 cycles may be more than you need.

It also offers Accela Steam, Wrinkle Guard, and moisture-sensing drying, so the pitch is about refreshing fabrics and managing cycles as well as drying a load.

The LED touch controls show cycle status and time remaining. Smart sensors detect moisture to help prevent over-drying, while the Energy Saver option is stated to reduce energy use by up to 8.2% under a specific comparison: an 8-lb load on a normal cycle with more dry level and medium temperature. That figure isn’t a blanket estimate for every load or setting.

## Best use cases

The extra capacity may be useful when a regular load includes bedding or other household fabrics that benefit from having room to move. For example, after washing sheets, you can choose a suitable cycle and follow the remaining time on the display instead of estimating when the load will be ready. The product description also calls out cycles for items such as decorative pillows, sleeping bags, and plush toys, check each item’s care instructions before drying it.

Accela Steam’s Steam Refresh cycle is designed to reduce wrinkles, static, and odors in 15 minutes, based on a 3-lb load. Keep in mind that this is a refresh feature, not a promise that a larger load will get the same result in the same time. Compared with choosing a dryer solely for basic drying, the added appeal here is having a steam refresh cycle and multiple fabric-care options.

## Tips for day-to-day use

Use the cycle and options that match the fabric rather than treating the 12 cycles as interchangeable. The sensors can respond to moisture in the clothes, but the description doesn’t specify cycle times across different load sizes, so don’t assume every load will finish on a predictable schedule. The display’s time-remaining readout can help with planning, though it is still useful to check the load when the cycle ends.

For a quick refresh, the stated 15-minute Steam Refresh result is tied to a 3-lb load. Wrinkle Guard is intended to help clothes stay smooth after drying, and the two features may suit items that need freshening before wear. On the spec sheet, the dryer offers 8 options, but the exact settings aren’t listed here, so shoppers who need a particular fabric-specific feature should confirm it before buying.

## Questions before you buy

**Does it have a steam refresh cycle?** Yes. Accela Steam’s Steam Refresh cycle is described as reducing wrinkles, static, and odors in 15 minutes, based on a 3-lb load.

**How does the dryer help avoid over-drying?** Smart sensors detect moisture in clothing and adjust drying to help prevent over-drying. The description doesn’t provide a sensor accuracy claim or a guaranteed cycle time.

**Can it dry items beyond everyday clothing?** The product description mentions bedding and household fabrics, plus cycles intended for decorative pillows, sleeping bags, and plush toys. Follow the care labels for those items.

## When it makes sense

It makes sense if you want a large-capacity gas dryer with sensor-based drying and a steam option for refreshing clothes between washes. The controls also make cycle status and remaining time visible at a glance. You may want to skip it if you need a compact dryer, want confirmed details about a specific cycle or option, or expect Steam Refresh to replace washing. The 8.0 cu. ft. capacity is the clearest reason to choose this model, if you rarely dry bulky loads, a more basic dryer may fit your needs better.
