## Description

This outdoor smart plug from Kasa lets you control two separate outdoor outlets with voice or app control, making it easier to automate garden and holiday lighting while fitting into an Apple HomeKit setup. It supports remote Siri commands when a HomePod or Apple TV is present, and offers long-range 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi for better connectivity up to about 300 feet according to the manufacturer.

## Key Points

The unit provides two independently controlled AC sockets so you can run two strings of lights or separate devices without affecting the other. Each outlet supports up to 15 A and 1875 W, and a hinged waterproof cover protects the sockets from dirt when not in use. Compatibility spans Siri, Alexa, and Google Assistant, enabling voice control and smartphone operation via the Kasa app. Note that Apple HomeKit remote access requires an additional networked Apple device on the same home network.

## Technical Specifications

- Name: **Kasa Apple HomeKit Outdoor Smart Plug EP40A**
- Outlets: - 2 independently controlled sockets
- Power rating: - 15 A / 1875 W max per outlet
- Connectivity: - 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi only, long-range coverage up to 300 ft (manufacturer claim)
- Weather resistance: - IP64 rating for dust and splash protection
- Certification: - ETL certified

## Benefits

Using the Kasa outdoor plug adds convenience when managing outdoor lighting, because you can create schedules and group multiple plugs in the app for coordinated control. The independent outlets let you combine different effects or routines without extra wiring. Voice assistant support is helpful for hands-free operation while doing yard work or entertaining, and remote app control allows switching lights from anywhere.

## Usage Recommendations

Install the unit in a covered exterior outlet or place the plug where the attached weather cover can shield the sockets when unused. For reliable HomeKit remote control, ensure a HomePod or Apple TV is reachable on the same home network. Consider that the device works only on 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi, so a dual-band router must have that band enabled for setup and operation. Some heavy-duty outdoor appliances may draw close to the rated limit, so verify combined loads before connecting multiple high-current devices.
