Just Pursuit: A Black Prosecutor's Fight for Fairness Audiobook

An unabridged audio edition gives Laura Coates’s account a focused listening format, with a total runtime of 8 hours and 30 minutes. The book centers on a Black prosecutor’s fight for fairness, bringing its subject into a sustained narrative rather than a brief overview. Want a thoughtful listen grounded in a prosecutor’s experience? Coates is both the author and narrator, so the story comes directly from her voice.

Pros

The audiobook suits listeners who want to spend time with a first-person perspective on prosecution and fairness. Its full-length format offers room for the book’s stories and ideas to unfold, while the narration by Coates keeps the author’s perspective at the center. That makes it a natural choice for a dedicated listening session or for breaking into shorter sessions across its 8 hours and 30 minutes.

Customer feedback highlights the informative content, engaging stories, and writing style. Some listeners describe it as useful for students and appreciate its account of the author’s experience as a prosecutor. Reactions to the articulation and emphasis are mixed: while some value Coates’s perspective and defense of her role, others feel the narrative focuses more on the author than on the events. These responses may help readers decide whether an author-centered account is the approach they want.
