It is listed for select Whirlpool, Maytag, and Amana refrigerators. The product also cross-references WPW10236142 and other part numbers. Matching the part to your refrigerator is the key step before choosing it. ## Key features This joytrace motor is presented as a direct replacement for the W10236142 part. Its purpose is specific: the evaporator fan moves air through the refrigerator, so a faulty motor may be associated with unusual noise, weak cooling, rising compartment temperatures, or no airflow from the vents. Replacing the motor may address those symptoms when the motor is the cause, it is not a general fix for every cooling problem. The listing names Whirlpool, Maytag, and Amana refrigerators and includes AQF1613TEW05 and AQF2013TEW05 as compatible models. It also mentions MSD2553 among its compatibility examples. Cross-reference numbers include WPW10236142, 1551816, AH2372370, EA2372370, PS2372370, and PS11750794. These references can help compare an existing part, but they do not establish compatibility with every refrigerator from those brands. Check the appliance’s full model number and the part number on the installed motor before ordering. ## Everyday use This is a repair component, not an accessory for routine refrigerator use. It becomes relevant when the evaporator fan motor needs replacement and the refrigerator model and part reference match the listing. The practical benefit is having a part intended for that repair, rather than replacing the entire refrigerator or buying a generic motor without a matching reference. The listing describes a direct connection and a tool-assisted installation following standard repair procedures. That points to a component replacement, not a tool-free swap. The product information does not specify installation steps, included tools, or the skill level required, so the listing alone is not enough to determine whether the repair is suitable for a particular DIY setup. ## Best use cases Consider this motor when a listed refrigerator has airflow or cooling symptoms and the existing fan motor is confirmed as the likely fault. You’ll appreciate it if you already have a matching part number or can verify that your refrigerator model appears in the compatibility information. The named replacement references may also help when an old part uses a cross-reference rather than the primary W10236142 designation. For a practical example, a refrigerator with little or no airflow from its vents may lead you to inspect the evaporator fan assembly and compare its part number with this listing. If the model or reference does not match, this is not a sound substitute based only on the brand name. Not the best choice if the problem points to a different refrigerator component, a fan motor cannot be assumed to resolve faults elsewhere in the cooling system. ## Before you decide **What does an evaporator fan motor do?** It operates the fan that circulates air through the refrigerator. A failed motor can be associated with noise, reduced cooling, or missing airflow, though those symptoms do not prove that the motor is the cause. **Which refrigerators are listed as compatible?** The listing names select Whirlpool, Maytag, and Amana models, including AQF1613TEW05 and AQF2013TEW05, and also mentions MSD2553. Confirm the full appliance model and part reference rather than relying on brand alone. **Is installation tool-free?** No. The product information describes a tool-assisted replacement process. It does not provide enough detail to assess the steps or tools needed for a specific refrigerator. ## When it makes sense This part makes sense when the refrigerator’s model and existing motor reference match the listing, and the fan motor has been identified as the component needing replacement. Its defined part number and cross-references make it more targeted than choosing a motor by brand or symptom alone. If the fit cannot be confirmed, or the cooling issue has not been traced to the fan motor, identifying the faulty component first is the more useful next step. ## Images ![joytrace W10236142 Evaporator Fan Motor, WPW10236142 Replacement — 1](https://www.ofertitastop.com/i/pxhMCPqIa5mAR-dQY4OcwAPGWxnfiSrKZaBDi8WMaf_eejf_eYKmPeYBxb7JEae2_IFK0Z84YuBYJbx4H24rSw4raaki1wTQG5M65yVElddlIXJDrSD4Ig.jpg) ![joytrace W10236142 Evaporator Fan Motor, WPW10236142 Replacement — 2](https://www.ofertitastop.com/i/d44yt5TcvNDP5-oMdvlr-ZWpjK9ZO3IsrDSp1fZtKXDm243Qol5W82R1su17Yve6Q4FA_lroYXMVoh1Lwt_uCDBbqCJ0MO1LHBBKNRczWBi_bfKBrggdkQ.jpg) ![joytrace W10236142 Evaporator Fan Motor, WPW10236142 Replacement — 3](https://www.ofertitastop.com/i/5a8QULhsQRJcFkI23N-PZXKBr_chgbk8F5U52neWdpyiLht-8-Ksz_BSpgG0ELqtdYQQPBtEfwBrggXMEBQdKfXKrndjbK7imqC7c1gYn9bT5yWo4BiydA.jpg) ![joytrace W10236142 Evaporator Fan Motor, WPW10236142 Replacement — 4](https://www.ofertitastop.com/i/qpih2e1-393Z_3tciJz3S3jEiDof63NAkSxVm-c6PjWeeaBIRVzuIywxTz9SjODriMqJ2LQvv7RKIUnd4HX1WsZNJU0wlUTB4XbHF8IuTAlZkJHMPSZWNQ.jpg) ![joytrace W10236142 Evaporator Fan Motor, WPW10236142 Replacement — 5](https://www.ofertitastop.com/i/h3jxiGovK0DQT4u8Zeyk12rXFmZRE6gqzkVIxwdpkrT__wmQwCmXez4lewAzvopkLAIPsPLR6vd65T4iplHuH-1IB5SeyngYLng7VSOTXhdiu-e53zd2iA.jpg)
