JBL Tune 780NC Wireless Over-Ear Headphones with Adaptive Noise Cancelling

For listeners who want wireless headphones for music, calls, and everyday travel, the JBL Tune 780NC brings several useful features together. Adaptive Noise Cancelling helps reduce surrounding distractions, while Smart Ambient lets you manage how much of your surroundings you hear. JBL Pure Bass and Spatial Sound add an immersive listening option. A foldable over-ear design makes the headphones easy to bring along.

At a glance

JBL Pure Bass Sound and JBL Spatial Sound are designed to make music feel full and immersive, and the headphones also support Hi-Res audio when connected with the included USB-C-to-3.5mm audio cable. Adaptive Noise Cancelling supports focused listening, Smart Ambient offers a way to stay more aware of your surroundings. For calls, two beamforming microphones capture speech while noise reduction filters ambient sound.

Bluetooth 6.0 supports wireless listening and multipoint connection, so you can pair two Bluetooth devices and switch between them. For example, you can listen from a tablet and still hear updates from a paired phone. Buyers often highlight sound quality, noise cancellation, battery life, and comfort, making these features especially relevant for regular listening and commuting.

Who it’s for

These over-ear headphones suit adults looking for one pair to use across music, video, and calls. The combination of Bluetooth and a 3.5mm wired connection offers more flexibility than a wireless-only setup: use Bluetooth for everyday listening, or connect with the included audio cable when a wired connection is preferable. Compatibility listed for the headphones includes laptops, desktops, tablets, phones, televisions, and gaming consoles.

They also fit routines that move between devices or listening environments. A commuter can use noise cancelling for music, then choose Smart Ambient when awareness of nearby sounds is useful. At home, multipoint makes switching between a computer and phone more convenient, while the fold-flat design helps the headphones fit into an everyday bag.

Usage tips

Battery life is rated for up to 76 hours with Bluetooth on and ANC off, or up to 50 hours with ANC on. A five-minute speed charge provides up to five hours of playback, and a full recharge takes about two hours. These figures make it easier to plan charging around listening habits, whether you mainly use noise cancelling or prefer longer sessions with it turned off.

For a wired listening session, connect the included USB-C-to-3.5mm audio cable. The same cable enables Hi-Res audio. To personalize playback, use the JBL Headphones app to adjust the EQ, choose a preset, set up Personi-Fi 3.0, and control Smart Ambient settings. Android and Windows 10/11 users can also use Google Fast Pair or Microsoft Swift Pair for setup.
