## Description

For a chilly bike ride, ski day, or other outdoor outing, the ILM FM01Y balaclava adds face and head coverage beneath a helmet or hat. Its stretch fabric and earbud channels make it practical when you want coverage without giving up access to earbuds.

The youth mask can be worn in several configurations, including as a full-face mask, half-face mask, open-face balaclava, or neck gaiter. That flexibility lets you adjust coverage to the activity and conditions.

If you need straightforward face coverage, a basic mask may suit the task, if you also want a way to wear earbuds or pull braids through, the FM01Y’s open channels offer those added options.

## Technical details
- Type: Youth balaclava
- Size: Medium
- Color: Black
- Material: 88% polyester, 12% spandex
- Weight: 50 g
- Fabric: High stretch, lightweight

The polyester-spandex fabric stretches to cover the head and face, while the flocked inner surface is designed to help retain warmth. Its windproof design offers coverage for outdoor rides and winter activities. Wear it beneath a helmet or hat, with glasses or goggles, or change the face opening to suit the activity. The ear flap has an open channel for earbuds and a passage for braids, so those features can be used without removing the balaclava.

## Everyday use
On a motorcycle or bicycle commute, the mask can cover the face and head under a helmet, on the slopes, it can be worn as a ski mask or adjusted to leave more of the face open. It is also suited to snowboarding and other outdoor activities where a neck gaiter or hood-style layer is useful. The manufacturer describes the design as protective against wind, dust, and other outdoor elements, and notes that it can help keep sweat and hair oils off a helmet liner.

Buyers often praise the warmth, comfort, coverage, and feel of the material, with some also noting its usefulness against wind. Feedback on fit is mixed, including reports that it can run large for some 9-year-olds. The listed youth size is Medium, a useful reference when choosing for a child or teen.

## What you get
The listed unit count is one: a black ILM youth balaclava. Its machine-washable construction makes routine garment care straightforward. For use, pull the earbud channel into position before putting on a helmet, and choose the face opening that provides the coverage you want.

## What to clarify
**Can it be worn under a motorcycle or ski helmet?** Yes. The balaclava is described as helmet-compatible and can also be worn beneath hats. Adjust it so the face and head are covered as needed before putting on the helmet.

**Can you wear earbuds or pull braids through it?** The design includes an open channel at the ear flap for earbuds and a passage for braids, allowing access without removing the mask.

**How should it be cleaned?** The care instructions say to machine wash it.

## Buying verdict
The ILM FM01Y combines stretch coverage, a warm flocked interior, and purposeful ear and braid channels in a lightweight youth balaclava. It is a practical fit for kids and teens who need a flexible layer for motorcycle rides, skiing, snowboarding, or cycling, especially when they want to wear it beneath a helmet.
