## Description

For a household looking to reduce chlorine taste and odor in tap water, the ICEPURE CTO10 is a replacement carbon cartridge for compatible whole-house or RO filtration setups. Each filter is rated at 1 micron and uses activated carbon. The four-pack provides replacements for future changes. Its stated use is tap-water filtration, well water with mud or sand may clog it sooner.

## Key specifications
- Model: CTO10
- Type: Whole-house CTO carbon replacement filter
- Filter size: 2.5 x 10 inches
- Material: Activated carbon
- Pack size: 4 filters
- Certification: NSF/ANSI 42, certified by IAPMO
- Stated service life: Up to 13,000 gallons, depending on water quality, replacement is recommended every 6 months based on water quality

The stated NSF/ANSI 42 certification relates to reducing chlorine taste and odor. The listing also describes a 1-micron rating and reduction of sediment, but those details do not establish removal of every contaminant. If you need treatment for a particular water concern beyond taste and odor, check that the filter’s documented performance matches that need.

## Tips for day-to-day use
This cartridge is described as fitting standard 10 x 2.5-inch systems and as a replacement for models including DuPont WFPFC8002 and WFPFC9001, GE FXWTC and GXWH20F, Whirlpool WHCF-WHWC, and Pentek CBC-10. Compatibility names are a useful starting point, but the system’s cartridge dimensions and sealing arrangement still matter. Buyer feedback is mixed on fit: some say it works in standard housings, while others report compatibility problems and describe the cartridge as about 2 mm too long. Experiences with filter life also vary, so the stated lifespan should be treated as dependent on water quality rather than a fixed guarantee.

For routine tap-water use, the practical choice is to match the cartridge to the housing and water issue first. If the source is well water with visible sediment such as mud or sand, the product information warns that this filter may clog sooner, a filter intended for that source may be a better fit. It suits you if your main goal is reducing chlorine taste and odor in a compatible system. Better avoided if you need a filter specifically suited to sediment-heavy well water.

## In the box
The set includes four ICEPURE CTO10 carbon filters. That makes it possible to keep replacements on hand, but the listing does not specify separate housings or installation parts as included.

## When it makes sense
This pack is most relevant when your existing system takes a 10 x 2.5-inch cartridge and you want a carbon replacement aimed at chlorine taste and odor, rather than a more specialized treatment selected for well-water sediment or another specific contaminant. The 1-micron rating and stated NSF/ANSI 42 certification offer useful selection details, but neither should replace checking the exact requirements of your filtration system. If you prioritize a straightforward replacement for compatible tap-water filtration, the CTO10 has a clear intended role, if fit is uncertain or your water source is sediment-heavy, choose based on the housing specifications and the treatment needs stated for that source.
