## Description

## Where it shines

Hall Effect joysticks give The Competitor a magnetic-sensor approach to analog control, designed to support smooth, precise movement during play. Its symmetrical stick layout offers a balanced alternative to controllers with offset sticks, while the wired USB-C connection suits a setup where you prefer a direct connection to your gaming device.

Use it with Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, or a Windows PC for games that benefit from hands-on directional and button control. The headphone jack and rumble add useful features for an everyday gaming setup, and the red Widow Edition finish brings a distinctive look to your desk or console area.

## Key features

The controller pairs Hall Effect joysticks with impulse triggers for responsive input across a range of game styles. In a fast-paced match, the symmetrical layout keeps both sticks positioned evenly, while the traditional translucent D-pad provides a dedicated directional control. Four precision action buttons handle in-game commands, and the two programmable rear buttons let you assign additional inputs for your preferred play style.

A dedicated mute button makes it easier to manage voice chat during a session. The included stick-cap options—domed and concave—let you choose between two shapes, and the USB-C wired connection keeps the controller connected to a compatible console or PC. For players choosing between a wired gamepad and a wireless setup, this model focuses on direct USB-C connectivity rather than wireless play.

The Competitor is officially licensed for Xbox and works with Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and Windows PCs. Buyers often highlight the smooth-feeling sticks, comfortable handling, and lightweight feel. Feedback on reliability and button or stick responsiveness is mixed, so those impressions vary from one customer to another.

## Best use cases

This controller is well suited to Xbox and PC players who want a wired gamepad with symmetrical sticks and extra rear-button customization. It can support varied play, from directional inputs in fighting games to aiming and movement in action titles. Connect it by USB-C to a compatible system, then use the rear buttons and available stick caps to tailor the controls to your preferred setup.

Its headphone jack and mute button also make it practical for sessions that include voice chat. With rumble for in-game feedback and a familiar button-based layout, it fits both regular play and a dedicated PC gaming station without requiring a change to a wireless connection style.

## Final verdict

The Hyperkin The Competitor brings together Hall Effect joysticks, impulse triggers, programmable rear buttons, and a symmetrical layout in an officially licensed wired Xbox controller. It’s a great fit if you want direct USB-C connectivity for Xbox or Windows PC gaming and value extra control options in a red finish. A one-year manufacturer warranty is listed.
