Hercules DJControl Starlight 4780884 Compact DJ Controller with USB Audio

For learning to mix with Serato DJ Lite, the Hercules DJControl Starlight puts key DJ controls and integrated audio in a compact USB controller. Its straightforward layout gives you hands-on access to two-deck mixing functions.

Connect it by USB to a compatible laptop, desktop, or tablet. The included Serato DJ Lite software and USB cable support a simple starting setup for practicing mixes at home or preparing a small DJ session.

Dedicated buttons, deck controls, and lighting give you practical ways to work through a mix and follow the beat. The controller is finished in black.

How to use it

Connect the controller to a compatible device using the USB cable, then use Serato DJ Lite to work with your music and the controller’s two decks. The crossfader lets you move between decks, while the deck volume buttons and Bass/Filter EQ buttons give you direct controls for shaping the transition. Main volume and deck-monitoring selection buttons add convenient access to listening and output adjustments while you mix.

The integrated audio provides a 1/8-inch (3.5 mm) stereo main output for speakers and a separate 1/8-inch (3.5 mm) stereo headphone output. This layout makes it practical to connect speakers and monitor a deck through headphones as part of a mixing setup.

Benefits

The compact design keeps the controller’s mixing functions together without requiring a large control surface. For someone learning the basics, having the crossfader, deck volume, and EQ controls directly on the hardware makes it easier to practice transitions with physical controls rather than relying on software interaction alone.

Lighting adds a visual guide while learning. You can control it on the controller or through Serato DJ Lite, with seven distinct modes. Beat modes use red and blue light patterns to mark beats in the main song, offering a visible cue as you follow the rhythm. Choose an LED setting that suits your practice setup, including turning the lights off.

Buyers often speak positively about the controller’s functionality, including its use with Serato Lite and mobile DJ setups. Reliability feedback is mixed: some report good operation, while others describe shutdowns during playback or accidental activation of features. These are individual customer experiences rather than guaranteed outcomes.
