Plug in the outlet, position the sensor for the area you want to cover, and select the mode that suits the space. In AUTO mode, the light turns on when the room is dim and motion is detected, it turns off after five minutes without further motion. If motion is detected during that countdown, the timer resets. This setup is useful for nighttime trips through a hallway or for entering a storage area with your hands full.

For lighting that should operate in daylight as well as at night, choose a timed setting instead. The 5-, 15-, and 30-minute options turn the connected device off when the selected countdown ends, even if motion is detected again.
