## Description

## What matters most

A TV can dominate a dark room without adding much atmosphere. These Govee light bars add colored ambient lighting around the screen to make movie nights and gaming feel more immersive.

They’re designed for 45–70-inch TVs and offer RGBWIC colors, including purer whites than regular RGB lighting, according to the product details. That makes them more than a simple single-color glow when you want to shift the room’s mood.

Keep in mind that these bars do not match their colors to what’s on screen. They create ambient effects, rather than the reactive, picture-matching backlight some TV owners are looking for.

## How to use it

You can mount the 15-inch bars behind the TV with the included mounting brackets, stand them beside it, or place them horizontally without the brackets. That flexibility helps if the back of your TV is awkward to access or you’d rather keep the lights visible on a media console. They’re intended for TVs from 45 to 70 inches, so check that range against your screen before choosing them.

The Govee Home app provides more than 60 preset scenes and eight music modes. A built-in microphone detects ambient sound and changes the lighting in response, which could suit a game night or music playing in the room. Smart-home controls include Matter, Alexa, Google Assistant, and SmartThings, the product says a hub isn’t needed. You can also use the AI Lighting Bot 2.0 to create effects by speaking, typing, or taking a photo.

## Practical tips

For a low-effort setup, mount the bars behind the TV, select a preset scene, and adjust brightness or color through the app or voice controls. If you’re watching a movie and want the lighting to follow the soundtrack, try a music mode, the built-in mic responds to ambient sound, not the picture itself. That distinction matters if your priority is matching the colors on screen.

A solid pick if you want flexible placement, app-based scenes, and smart-home voice control in one TV lighting setup. It might not be a great match if you specifically want a backlight that samples the image and mirrors its colors. Compared with a basic fixed-color lamp, these bars offer more scene and music effects, compared with a screen-matching system, they take a different approach to immersion.

## Questions before you buy

**Will the lights match the colors on my TV screen?** No. The product description specifically says there is no color-matching function.

**Can I use them without mounting them behind the TV?** Yes. They can stand beside the TV or sit horizontally without the mounting brackets.

**Do I need a smart-home hub?** The product states that Matter-supported control works without a hub. It also lists Alexa, Google Assistant, and SmartThings compatibility.
