The Google Nest Learning Thermostat (4th gen) pairs with a Nest Temperature Sensor (2nd gen) to help manage hot and cold spots in different rooms. Control it through the Google Home app or with a compatible voice assistant. ## What stands out Learning schedules can adjust to the temperatures you like and when you typically want them, making this a practical choice for a home with a regular but changing routine. The included Nest Temperature Sensor adds room-by-room input: place it in a room where comfort matters, then use the Google Home app to set the temperature you want there at a certain time of day. Its touchscreen display has a larger screen than the previous generation and Dynamic Farsight, which shows information when you’re across the room. Choose a clock or weather display, and let brightness adjust automatically or set it manually. The thermostat can also ask for permission before making schedule changes, notifications in the Google Home app let you review and accept them. Buyers often praise the modern appearance and straightforward installation and setup. Feedback is more mixed on temperature control and remote connections, so the app and voice-assistant options are worth considering alongside the thermostat’s learning and sensor features. ## Quick overview - Type: Learning thermostat for heating and cooling - System compatibility: Most 24V systems, including gas, electric, oil, forced air, heat pump, and radiant - Connectivity: Wi-Fi, Matter compatible - Control: Google Home app, touchscreen, or voice with Alexa, Siri, or Google Assistant - Included: Thermostat display and base, trim plate, steel plate, mounting screws, wiring labels, and Nest Temperature Sensor (2nd gen) A C wire is not required for installation in most homes. The thermostat is designed for wall mounting, and compatibility depends on the existing heating and cooling system. ## Best use cases This bundle suits homes where one thermostat setting doesn’t reflect how every room feels. For example, place the included sensor in a bedroom and schedule the temperature you want there for bedtime. The thermostat can use the sensor’s reading as part of managing comfort at that time, rather than relying only on the temperature around the wall-mounted unit. It also fits a connected-home routine: adjust settings in the Google Home app when you’re away, or use a supported voice assistant at home. For households that prefer a simple fixed schedule and don’t need room-level sensing, a programmable thermostat without a separate sensor may be a more direct approach. Here, the learning schedule, display options, and included sensor are the distinguishing features. ## Questions before you buy **Will it work with my heating and cooling system?** It works with most 24V systems, including gas, electric, oil, forced air, heat pump, and radiant. Check the existing system’s compatibility before installation, a C wire is unnecessary in most homes. **What does the included Nest Temperature Sensor do?** Place it in a room and use the Google Home app to set the temperature you want that room to reach at a particular time of day. It helps address differences between the thermostat’s location and rooms where comfort matters. **How can I control the thermostat?** Use its touchscreen or the Google Home app, or use voice control with Alexa, Siri, or Google Assistant. The thermostat also supports Matter for smart-home integration. ## Is it worth it? It makes sense if you want a thermostat that learns preferred temperatures and includes a sensor for managing comfort in another room. The Obsidian finish, across-the-room display features, app controls, and schedule-change approvals add useful flexibility for households that want more than a basic programmable thermostat. ## Images ![Google Nest Learning Thermostat CE911542 \(4th gen\) with Sensor, Obsidian — 1](https://www.ofertitastop.com/i/sukq1kcgdVr9mUHvU1IkAjMw8YRk1NhnPmol29n1hxrVsk_XAZoPJ1ddyR5xk2FXwGaByJsrNtX_nJxhrw-LOnIUPJ_hAiW4A-EW7lt9_IfYL03iXBpvLtZvrA.jpg) ![Google Nest Learning Thermostat CE911542 \(4th gen\) with Sensor, Obsidian — 2](https://www.ofertitastop.com/i/mJO2F-gEu0skSe--Fwi4Y_lo4b_P-bO9Bf36Sy1etMmurwJs3zOe4UCUSqoH9XGI7KfyAecfNX09mc1m3_riqGfKFgbRkv-nImJ_IzGqUWSN0fPUjG35CPi-GA.jpg) ![Google Nest Learning Thermostat CE911542 \(4th gen\) with Sensor, Obsidian — 3](https://www.ofertitastop.com/i/i77xzU037e4B5KUp2HFksjPIEh_4RsshuZ1DS08WrYxAA4kqJXf6pcxRIgBm_aWX6qaJJ8ZrOyMmq7SMynwdUWABHcVJY5DDGKoLETikPtn5mCWTRki9zOCXYg.jpg) ![Google Nest Learning Thermostat CE911542 \(4th gen\) with Sensor, Obsidian — 4](https://www.ofertitastop.com/i/w2glvqHLPRgp65PHTSua5kl0bHKlVv5api93qhhJWMmJVOALgzwUo5zdj06UXeTMJHf7-WtB6Wbme2pkPi09ZSfJ6NgvNeV6irTT8FMuGL8MIDQ0O4-BFeUGhw.jpg) ![Google Nest Learning Thermostat CE911542 \(4th gen\) with Sensor, Obsidian — 5](https://www.ofertitastop.com/i/q7H7Iql93RjHGRt0BDoW6yt1x899ERYG-7uyFkUe3n0E8GxC5RFGdRexuAbyWZ5MVM9-hv2SODwD_kIPMd1d0lN54H37G7kZGkfLRidfRur2wzOXv0YgObIz3A.jpg)
