Filter King Air Filter 18 x 30 x 1

Dust and airborne particles can collect in your home’s heating and cooling system, so a replacement filter needs to match the slot and your preferred filtration level. This Filter King MERV 8 air filter comes in a six-pack for AC and furnace use.

The size on the package is nominal: the listed actual size is 17.5 x 29.5 x .75 inches. That difference matters when you’re matching a filter to an existing opening.

Its pleated design is intended to capture airborne particles while allowing airflow, making it a practical routine replacement rather than a specialized filtration upgrade.

Technical details

This is a MERV 8 pleated air filter sold as a six-pack. The listed nominal size is 18 x 30 x 1 inches, the actual size is 17.5 x 29.5 x .75 inches. It is described for air conditioners and furnaces, with dust and allergy control as its intended use.

The distinction between nominal and actual measurements is worth keeping in view: a filter that looks right by its package size may not fit an opening that requires different dimensions. The product description does not specify a particular furnace or AC model, so the size and the requirements of your equipment are the deciding factors.

Getting the most from it

Use the actual measurements when comparing this filter with the one you’re replacing, and make sure your system calls for a MERV 8 filter. The six-pack is useful if you prefer to keep replacements on hand, but the package size alone doesn’t establish how long each filter will last in your home.

A concrete routine might be to take out the old filter during a scheduled home-maintenance check, compare its fit with the listed actual size, and slide the replacement into the same opening. The maker recommends changing one-inch filters every 30 to 90 days and says this filter can last up to 90 days. Dust levels and conditions in a home can affect how soon a replacement is needed.

Usage tips

The stated installation process is simple: open the filter area, slide the replacement in, and close it. The description does not give a model-specific installation guide, so follow the instructions for your own heating or cooling equipment if they differ.

It makes sense if you want a multipack of standard-style pleated replacements and your equipment takes the listed actual dimensions and MERV 8 rating. Compared with choosing a filter solely by its printed nominal size, checking the measured size first is the more reliable way to avoid a mismatch. One limitation is that the listing doesn’t identify which specific systems accept this filter, so the product details can’t confirm compatibility for every unit.

Practical doubts

What is the actual size? The listed actual dimensions are 17.5 x 29.5 x .75 inches, while 18 x 30 x 1 inches is the nominal size.

What does MERV 8 mean here? It identifies the filter’s stated rating. The product description says its pleated design captures airborne particles, it does not provide a breakdown of specific particle sizes or filtration percentages.

How many filters are included? The product name identifies this as a six-pack, giving you multiple replacements to keep available.

Should you buy it?

You may want to skip it if your equipment requires a different size or rating, or if you need product-specific compatibility details that aren’t provided. For a home system that calls for MERV 8 and matches the actual dimensions, this pack offers a straightforward way to keep replacement filters ready. Its appeal is practical: six filters, a clearly stated actual size, and a routine replacement schedule—not a promise of specialized or system-specific filtration.
